Do you thin he pulls a Daniel Orton and comes out this year? He has good size and I could see it happening with Trey Lyles and Karl Towns coming in next year. Unless he wants to stick around until his junior year, but who knows if Kentucky will end up getting two more big men then again too.

I think he comes out this year, honestly. He should declare and hope that someone takes him in the lower half of the first round. I really don’t see his stock improving next year, since he will be used in a similar role as this year. I think at least 4 UK players will declare (Randle, WCS, Young for sure……maybe Harrisons and Poythress), so he should try to jump on board and roll the dice on a team looking to stash potential.

Nothing against him personally, but from what Ive seen he can’t play. Some people might think he could be a Roy Hibbert type of guy. He isn’t.

I see there is no way he leaves for the draft…transfer maybe but I don’t think any team would draft him right now.  Daniel Orton was different because he was somewhat a physical freak due to his size and quickness unlike Dakari.

That being said, its stupid to say he can’t play.  He just needs more experience and playing time, which he’ll get with a couple more years in college.

while you’re right about the hibbert comparisons,Dakari could play and has 1st round talent. if he stays another year and keeps developing,he’d be a lottery lock in next years draft.

Dakari is nowhere near the defensive presence Hibbert is but Dakari post game is waaay further along now than when Hibbert was this age.

        thats all you can provide?

i’ve seen him play most of the season, he has a good post game, especially for a freshmen. i never liked the Hibbert comparisions because they’re two different players.hibbert makes his name off his defensive presence while Dakari will have to make his off his offensive/post game, which if he further develops can be very verry good.

lol @ you.YOU’RE obviously the one who never seen him play

He looked solid in spurts the other night against LSU. He is better offenseively than WCS it’s just WCS has better defensive ability. Dakari can play. I think if he declares someone will still draft him in the first round. He would be one of the younger players in the draft. He doesn’t turn 19 until September.

    He’s more talented than Orton..

Some experts have him rated as the 2nd or 3rd best center prospect..I would love to see him come back and continue to work on his game..But if you’ve watched him play this season,he’s been productive in the 11 minutes he plays…He’s a good post scorer and rebounder…Played well in their last game, hopefully Cal gives him more minutes..He could be 1 of those players that surprise people and move up in the draft….

I don’t believe he’ll pull a Daniel Orton.  Daniel Orton quit going to class in the second half of the year so he could focus on basketball, Dakari is still in class.  He went to school in Lexington as a youngster, has some people he knows around here, and I can’t see him leaving after one season, especially with as little burn as he’s gotten.

The OP is probably right about Dakari getting pushed out because of Lyles and Towns. It’s really too bad because he does need another year at least. I’ve only seen him play a handful of times, but his most notable weakness was his defensive footwork. He was caught out of position a bunch of times before Cal pulled him in the MSU game.

i dont know,i hope not. but if he does decide to declare, he’ll be selected in the 1st round. he’s outplaying WCS right now and might take his starting spot.

When you watch him play its evident he has a strong post game. big body Center who also has a nice touch around the basket. can hold his own on man to man defense down in the paint, its jus his lack of athleticism thats the knock on him. he doesnt  leave the ground much when he jumps lol.  but 7 foot,19 years old, somewhat polished post game with good size…thats enough to get you drafted in the 1st,including with the lack of Centers in this draft.

    he’s 10x the player Orton was/is.

With the effort he has put out in the last five games, he should start over WCS. I think it is way too early for him to leave though.

He really needs to work on his speed and athleticism before he hops to the NBA…like most have said his post moves are awesome..one more year of college will do him wonders he’ll play more and maybe could work on new moves because he seems too predictable at this point.

Still lot to learn, but shows potential on offense. Can get deep position and finish with both hands, even with jump and baby hooks, has soft hands. His footwork is still a major work in progress, so is his post game.  Doesn’t have amazing physical tools, he’s big and large, but doesn’t have great wingspan and he’s an average athlete at best. If he declares this year I don’t think he has a chance to go in the first round, he’s not polished enough and he’s not enough of an athlete/physical specimen to make up for it. His chances of making it in the Nba depend on his offensive development
