Lebron’s HairlineParticipantAnthony Davis is a huge snub so far.

Sewok15ParticipantDavis is the first player to be on pace for 20 PPG 10 RPG and 3 BPG since Shaq in 1999-2000. Tim Duncan never did it. KG has never done it and he didn’t even make the all star team? This voting is pretty bad.

Forte IVParticipantThere could be no Cousins or Davis either. Which would be surprising since I expected at least one of those guys to make it. Chris Paul (obviously) is in.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI think Anthony Davis should take Kobe’s spot.
David Lee or DeMarcus Cousins over Nowitzki as well. I guess they value shooting more than anything else.
I haven’t looked at the East yet, I’m trying not to look at them until they’re announced one by one lol

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantGive me Lance Stephenson over Joe Johnson.
I had Drummond over DeRozan in that last spot but had the other 10 picks spot on.
0- Posted on: Thu, 01/30/2014 - 4:53pm #867120

Ghost01ParticipantI like what Drummond has done this year, and clearly, going forward he’s a franchise level piece. But DeRozan is essentially averaging 22 a game on the 3rd best team in the East. It’s hard to argue with what his impact on the Raptors has been vs Drummond’s impact on an underachieving Detroit team that is somehow not even in the playoffs right now.
Completely agree Johnson has no business being there, though.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantCousins and Davis didn’t make it. How disappointing. They are both double-double machines that make their teams offensively and defensively, respectively.

mikeyvthedonParticipantThat is pretty bad. Hearing that Kyle Lowry and Joe Johnson were in the fight for the last spot, they chose the wrong guy. Arron Afflalo and Lance Stephenson definitely have legit cases as well over Johnson. As great as Jefferson has been playing, seems like it came down to a wing, which would favor the last two guys mentioned.
According to Kevin Pelton, Joe Johnson (14.9 PER) is the second below average (15.0) PER player chosen since 2003 (Luol Deng, 2012 is the other). Yeah, he is still a good player, just hard to say he has been an All-Star every night. Do understand the people shocked about DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis getting left off, just think that conference is so stacked. Cousins is 15-25 in the games he has played and Davis is 16-21.
I know Dirk’s best days are behind him, he is still doing really well. He has the Mavs overachieving when most people thought they were dead, they are 25-20 in games he has played. Guess the moral of the story is that W’s can put you over the top. Cousins and Davis both had great cases, playing excellent basketball. Still hard to say it was a MAJOR snub. Know you can’t fully blame them for their teams record, nor can you take away that Dirk has gotten back to being at an All-Star level as well, enough to have the Mavs in the play-off picture.

Side note, does someone else get to take Kobe’s spot on the team since he is injured?

arctuk02ParticipantNot really sure about this but if CP3 is still injured through All star weekend, does the commish pick his replacement, or is it only for all star starters (like Kobe for example) that are replaced?

joecheck88ParticipantI’m not a fan of Johnson being voted in and Nowitzki was questionable. Think names really have a part in it. When it comes down to similar numbers, the more established player seems to get in. Lance, Demarcus and AD will all have their chances real soon.
As far as the Kobe replacement, Harden will probably start I would guess but I wouldn’t be mad if they started Lillard. I would really enjoy watch Davis in this type of setting. He deserves it

Prime TimeParticipantThere’s way too many people who are worthy of making it, and not enough spots.
Davis is a huge snub. I would’ve liked to see Dragic make it because the Suns have been surprisingly good this year, and they’re still performing well without Bledsoe.

Sharp ShooterParticipantI think Davis will be subbed in for Kobe and DMC would replace Paul. And for the East maybe Noah will opt not to play in the ASG because he has been injured alot lately. Drummond may take his place if Noah’s not playing.

Ghost01ParticipantCousins and Davis play on bad teams. That is why they got snubbed. I’ll agree that Johnson over Lowry, and to a lesser extent Johnson over Stephenson are just blatant misses. Johnson always seems to make the all star team and almost every time he had such little imprint on the season it shocks me.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI’m with Ghost on this one. Kings have the worst record in the West and we want to recognize their best player? That’s like congratulating Kevin Hart for being the worlds tallest midget. Pelicans are 7 games under .500 so I also understand that snub. And if you want either of those two on who do you want to take off?
Raptors and Pacers are in top 3 in the East, reward Lowry and Stephenson. Hoping Wade doesn’t play so one of them get in.

Ghost01ParticipantI would love to see either Lowry or Stephenson get in.
Davis probably deserves to make it, New Orleans is mediocre and he has done a ton of things, but as many have said with Kobe and CP3 there will probably be a spot or two open.
I am TOTALLY fine with Dirk. He has played great lately and look at the Mavs? Would Cousins or Davis have that team in the playoffs? No way.

That West team is killer. If it had been up to me the team would have looked different, but at least I can comprehend the reasoning behind the choices that they did make for that squad.

Jester87ParticipantI don’t get why people think it’s so easy to leave Nowitzki out. Have you seen how terrible the Mavs are without him? He’s still a game changer, that team wouldn’t put together 30 wins without him.
Kyle Lowry deserved more than Irving this year imho, too bad fans messed up the starting lineup. I’m not a big fan of DeRozan and I would’ve liked Lowry over him and Big Al/Afflalo over Joe Johnson, but I think he’s fine and he deserves.
The West is too loaded, I understand people might like Boogie or Davis, but none of the guys in the team (except for Kobe) is having a terrific season. I would’ve liked to see Dragic, but who do you leave out? Curry and Lillard are out of question, so is CP3. Parker might not have eye popping stats, but it would’ve been an offense to the game having no Spurs players in, I mean, they’re the second best team in the West, you can’t ignore that.

machu46ParticipantJeez, looking at the East reserves really puts in perspective how bad the conference has been this year. You can argue that guys like Lowry got "snubbed", but let’s be honest, half of the reserves probably wouldn’t be all-stars in a normal year lol. The East is just beyond terrible. You got guys like Anthony Davis not quite making the cut in the West and guys like Joe Johnson making it in the East.
