torukParticipantDurant has been playing the best basketball of his career lately, this is happening by two possible reasons(or the combination of both):
1-He had to step up because Westbrook is hurt.
2-He plays better without Westbrook.
I do believe this team improves when Westbrook comes back from injury but Durant might not keep playing at this level, do you guys believe there is any scenario where the Thunder can make a trade to find a better fit for the team and for playing alongside Durant? It can be for a point guard like Rondo(if he and westbrook get healthy), it can be to acquire a center to replace Perkins and compliment Ibaka(someone like Noah) or they could go to a package of players to fill their back up point guard duties(Reggie Jackson would start), lack of inside scoring and to find guys to help Durant shoulder his load(Greivis Vasquez, Ross and Valanciunas). In no way i`m saying Russel Westbrook is bad player but i do believe there are better player/players to compliment Durant. Do you guys have any ideas of deals that could work? Do you believe he should stay?
The trades I listed are only for illustrating purposes they probably won`t work on the trading machine and they must be improved in order to workout.

jwall1ParticipantLook at how they fared in the playoffs last year without Westbrook… Whether or not Westbrook comes back from injury, Durant will not be able to maintain this level. He is putting up ridiculous numbers, but he will eventually have to cool off. Durant and Westbrook are probably the best duo in the league, and breaking them up with one of the ridiculous trades you mentioned would be one of the worst moves in NBA history.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantThey are definitely a great Duo and most likely the best…whether they compliment each other or not (which I think they do just fine), they obviously love playing together and that doesnt happen too much with superstars. I wouldn’t break them up for anything.

DolanCareParticipantNow that I’ve seen this team without Westbrook, I realize how important he is. He’s their compeitive soul, without him, the Thunder can be a tad soft. Not to mention he demands a defensive intensity that Durant does not.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantHe’s coming off a torn ACL bro, no one is rating him that high…
If anything he has been the most UNDERrated PG over the last 5 years or so…was the best player for the Celtics when they took the Heat to 7 games in the ECF and was arguably their best player when they lost to the Lakers in 7 in the Finals. Competitiveness and IQ is unmatched..

BogDon_KryptParticipantWestbrook and Lamb for Parker and Leondard. That’d really shake up the west.
Spurs:
Westbrook
Green
Ginobli
Duncan
Splitter
Lamb off bench
Thunder:
Parker
Sefolosha
Leondard
Durant
Ibaka

B-ball fanParticipantThe playoffs last year exposed the Thunder a bit. While Durant is just ridiculous, he won’t be able to put up these numbers in the postseason if Westbrook isn’t back. The Grizzlies just played crazy aggressive help defense on Durant and his teammates couldn’t pick up the slack. Durant probably could put up more numbers without Westbrook, but the Thunder wouldn’t win nearly as much and would be much easier to game plan against.

torukParticipant1-First of all, thank you for your opinions i see that you all view Westbrook and some irreplaceable part of this thunder team.
2-jwall1 I never proposed any of those trades i put them there to show the kind of packages I believe would be interesting for the thunder, I don`t believe rondo for westbrook straight up would be a good deal for the thunder, the celtics would need to sweeten the package with more players and rondo would need to recover his old form, i just threw rondo name over there to show posters that a point guard with a different skillset might compliment this team and durant better and to give them ideas for possible trades.
3- The playoffs last year were the first time this thunder team played without Westbrook and now they are more used to it and they are playing far better than last year.
4- I will repeat, I DO BELIEVE the thunder are better with Westbrook, I just believe they could still get better IF they find a good package for him.
5- I also agree that KD will cool off that`s why a trade that would bring players to help him shoulder his burden would be needed.
6-No_left you have a good point i forgot about the defense and competitive soul Westbrook brings so these are things that would have to be adressed in a possible trade.
7-Machu46 in my opinion Westbrook is the second best point guard in the league(CP3 is the first), i was just trying to find ways of making this team better.
8- If i was not clear in any part of my post i apologise, it`s because english is not my first language.

IhateusernamesParticipantPeople are so quick to cater to Durant in the Westbrook/Durant argument. Why dont people think of how dominant Westbrook could be without KD?
I fully believe Westbrook could be THE best player on a championship team. The fact that he and Durant play together is downright unfair. It really sucks that Westbrook in on his 2nd surgery.
Sure Durant could have better scoring numbers without Westbrook, but there is no player better that they could trade Westbrook for.
If Westbrook comes back healthy, there are multiple championships in that teams future.

Ghost01ParticipantThere is no doubt he would be a good fit on virtually every team in the league. Just because he shoots a lot…I mean, what would happen if he wasn’t there? Is Durant going to take 40 shots a game? It’s not like they have a ton of stud role players who deserve more shots…

King CaluchaParticipantI agree that THERE COULD BE a better fit for Durant other than Westbrook, but it’s not like this combination hurts them. Also, why would a GM take a risk when something is working out well?

joecheck88ParticipantNo he isn’t a good fit for the Thunder. He is a great for for the Thunder. Think maybe in a perfect world you would swap their intensity levels. KD to be more like Westbrook and Westbrook more like KD but they are great for one another anyway. That whole team fits together about as well as a team can.

tuck243Participantworth trading Westbrook for is Chris Paul. Outside of that I would say a fully healthy D. Rose, but they play uber similar. Chris Paul is the only one just because he can get everyone involved. Now Westbrook, before going down with an injury this year, was playing good all-around basketball…so was Kevin Durant along side of him. I’m not sure if I would be willing trading him for anybody as they were damn near unbeatable.
