It seems like every year right around the time All-Stars are announced Aldridge has a HUGE game. One year he had a 40 point game after being snubbed from the team against the Spurs, and I also remember him having a big one right after last year’s All-Stars were announced and people were saying Curry should have been on there instead of him. This year he set a new career high hours after finding out he wasn’t a starter (not suprising since it’s the fan vote).

It’s almost like Aldridge has these big statement games around this time to put a stop to the doubters. Either way, I’m loving his game this year and now he’s averaging close to 25/12/3 apg and 1 bpg. I’m a huge Aldridge fan, my username gives it away, and I just see something so different in him this year. I thought his rebounding numbers might’ve been a fluke in the beginning but he’s shown they’re legit. He also has the most 20 rebound games in the league this year at THREE on the season.

Real happy for him since I’ve always seen him as a well kept secret but he’s in the spotlight now with the Blazers playing at a high level.

I usually don’t just give away thumbs up, but I did bc I don’t understand why anyone negged you. I ask this, who would you rather, LA or Griffin? When rumors were out over the Summer of Aldridge’s trade request, I suggested a Griffin for LA and #10 trade idea. My reasoning was, I thought Aldridge was the better player and a better fit with Paul and that Portland would jump at the opportunity to get the younger Griffin. I was met with a lot of criticism from people stating that Griffin was way better than Aldridge.

LMA has taken his game to another level this year having been in the 21ppg range for the last 3 seasons and very unlucky not to get at least one All Star nod in that time. Over his last 5 games he is averaging 31.2ppg and 14.8rpg which is an immense return.

He may not get the hype that Griffin, K-Love and DMC get and even at Portland he was in the background behind B-Roy who burst onto the NBA seen and the much heralded drafting of Greg Oden. But after a quiet rookie season he has been Mr Consistency, starting every game he has played, missing only 5 games per season on average and averaging over 20ppg across his career from 2007-08 onwards.

If we assume he will rightly be given the All Star nod by the Western coaches, it will be richly deserved and he can look forward to very lucrative FA offers next summer but logically I see him remaining in Portland as they can offer him the best deal and he has such affinity for the team.

hes totally turned that part of his gamr around being more of an chor as well as scoring. I thought it was nice to see him at 9 rpg last year but 11.6 is great. his scoring i up but fg down but we know he likes a jumpshot. throw in 3 assist a game too. Really impressive

LA is the best power forward in the league, and if he and Portland continue playing at this level, I think he should get some serious MVP consideration not to say he’s better than Durant or Lebron, but I think currently he’s in the conversation for the third best player in the league, and his stock is rising. That said all star game starters are not selected by marit of the season they’re having but by popularity and entertainment appeal. Aldridge will definitely be selected as a reserve, but similar to the last 2 years, won’t have a big impact on the game and will undoubtably be outshines by Griffen and Love. The reason: solid fundamentals, leadership and a great jumper aren’t easy to showcase in an all star game setting, just ask Tim Duncan.
