TONYDABOSS77ParticipantAm I the only one that sees similarities between Lance Stephenson & Marcus Smart? The way they stuff stat sheets, the way they over power other guards, the way their constantly taking it coast to coast, both bigger, physical guys that need to get better at running a team.
Let me know how you guys feel?

IknoBall12ParticipantBut it don’t think there’s much of a comparison. I mean it of PGs stuff the stat sheet and some PGs are stronger than others. From what I’ve seen I think smart is an super athletic where as Lance is a slick ball handler and passer

DolanCareParticipantNah. When Stepehenson was in HS/College, he was known for being an absolute terror on the fastbreak. Smart is more of a cerebral player who doesn’t have the power of Born Ready.
That being said, Stephenson’s game does seem to be evolving more towards a Smartesque, Hardenesque type of player.

BasketballJunkie224Participantthroughout lance’s evolution he has always been known as a guy with an unlimited amount of talent and questionable off court issues and an attitude problem, now he is finally starting to put everything together…smart on the other hand is the opposite..i dont think he lacks talent or anything like that but i think his biggest strengths are his work ethic, heart and strength at the gaurd position. As for thier style of play..nothing really says ‘lance stephenson’ when i look at smart.

B-ball fanParticipantI can see it. Smart is known for poor shot selection and decision making at times and he plays a little out-of-control, like a young Lance Stephenson. Smart is probably the better passer, while Stephenson is bigger, more athletic, and a better ball handler.
Smart is probably going to bloom earlier in his NBA career than Stephenson did, for better or worse. Smart is better known for his professionalism and is definitely a surer bet than Stephenson was. But Stephenson is more physically gifted than Smart and is a craftier ball handler, so Smart still has work to do to get as good as Stephenson.

Malik-UniversalParticipantsmart reminds me somewhat of victor oladipo… both guys not that good of shooters but with their feel for the game, intangibles and defense, they both make winning plays on the court…both guys will never be big time scorers or shooters…. idk if smart is gnna be a combo at the next level… he should just stick to point guard

G WoodyParticipantI was amused for the months that nbadraft.net talked about Smart’s tenaciousness on Defence-then gave him the nba comparison of James Harden the king of the Ole defense. I see smart as a more of a Wesley Mathews type but a little better or maybe a smaller Kawai Leonard.
