The University of Michigan Alumni and college player of the year last year made his return to Michigan tonight vs. the Pistons. He got off to a slow start, but lead to Jazz to a blowout win over Detroit tonight. He finished with 20 points and a new career high 12 assists.
I know there was a lot of talk before the draft about the Pistons taking Burke 8th overall. With the season Burkes is having, I wonder if there is any regret about not taking him. regardless I’m happy he landed with the Jazz, and I’m looking forward to big things from him in the future.

There should be a lot of regret. Detroit needed a PG, a leader, and someone that would excite the Detroit area fans.

The perfect player for them was available. Burke had a stellar sophomore season for Michigan. He proved that he was a leader and that he was the type of player that isn’t afraid to step up and hit big shots. So, he’s a PG, he’s a leader, but how does he excite the fans? Oh, that’s right, like I mentioned earlier and everyone knows he played at Michigan.

Detroit messed up big time. I was more than surprised when they passed on him. He might step up and steal the rookie of the year award from MCW, because as he’s proven this season, he’s very important to them.

no way he steals ROY from Carter-Williams, MCW is a stat sheet stuffer

I’m a big MCW fan. He’s played fantastic this season. He’s rightfully the favorite to win it, and truthfully, I think he should be an all-star this season.

However, if anyone else is to sneak in and steal the award from him, it would be Burke. Trey came in and immediately took control of the Jazz.

MCW is the clear favorite, but there’s still a lot of basketball left to be played.

I can see that, Oladipo could also make a late run when he gets more burn if Orlando trades Affalo, once he cuts down on his turnovers and starts hitting the shots he can make, watch out

I was really pumped when the Wolves drafted him to only turn around and deal him.  Didn’t trust Rubio as the long term answer at pg and now it is very evident.  I don’t blame teams as much for not taking MCW, he had potential but I don’t think many envisioned him being this good this quick.  Burke on the other hand showed all of this at Michigan.  Teams get freaked out about Pg’s being too short, that’s why they are PGs!  Trey really has strong leadership and plays the position like an old school pg by setting up his teammates as his first priority.  Like Rubio and Rondo who have always needed to improve their jump shot Burke can do the same.  Rondo and Rubio however have terrible form and their jump shots won’t get much better.  I see more of a young Chris Paul or Tony Parker when looking at his Jump shot, form is fine and he drained them in college.  Being a little guy he just needs to learn how to find space for open looks, which he will.  He is in a good situation too.  Utah is shaping up real nicely.  Having a rookie PG step into a situation where he has a lot of talent even if they’re young is ideal.  I expect Kanter to be inserted back into the starting lineup soon now that he is in shape, Marvin has played well and I think he will be a solid piece off the bench.  Good thread Cody, I just realized how much I like the Jazz.
