jonus grumbyParticipantListening to WSCR in Chicago. They mentioned a New York paper (can not remember which one) suggested that the Knicks were interested in Tom Thibodeau as a head coach. WSCR also mentioned and I believe it that management and Tom are not seeing eye to eye on a number of subjects so the Bulls may be open to moving in a different direction. I would assume in a case like this the coach would need to be the instigator.
Is a trade where the Bulls trade Coach Thibodeau to the Knicks even possible and if it is what type of compensation would be appropriate? The Celtics sort of traded Doc Rivers to the Clippers and received a 2015 pick as compensation. Are there league rules on this? Has something like trading a coach been done other then Rivers to the Clippers?
I’m not suggesting the firing of a coach or anything but rather just interested in the process if teams were to consider trading a coach.

TyroberParticipantBasically a team sends some type of compensation( draft picks or cash) to another team so they can let the coach out of his contract. Orlando traded for Van Gundy and gave draft picks and cash to the HEAT. Very rare obviously and it seems like it would very hard to do midseason.

Sharp ShooterParticipantDidn’t The Celtics trade Doc Rivers to the Clippers for cash or picks?
