i know this is the nba draft forum,  even though it seems like it should just be called front page news.     im new to posting, been lurking for over a decade,   so if i am wrong about posting this in this forum please let me know,  it just seems the thing to do

so anyways,  John Henson,  watched his game tonight against the raptors,   not the first time ive seen him play,  i am very familiar with his game,    and i feel like he is one of those players that should be getting talked about more than he is.

before i get into my opinion of henson in detail,  i just want to say, i think he is way better than sanders,  and its too bad  larry drew is his coach,  i think henson is one of those players that unless your team is winning  and a playoff team,   you sacrifice a bit at times, but just give him as many minutes as he can handle and let him develop.

his defense is great,   his shot blocking is off the charts,    him and anthony davis    are very similar in that regard,   both really long,  also henson has impeccible timing, and amazing ability to get off miltiple jumps in succession  as i watched him block amir 3 times in one play,  finally emphatically swatting the ball far away

a player i would love to have on my team, and i think  has so much more developing to do, and if he can bulk up, and still be that quick and mobile,   look out,   could be a special player,

just wondering what yalls opinion was on him,    maybe where you rank him now,  where you see him in a few years,  and  just generally what you think,

Im a really big fan of John Henson’s game. Like you Iwould compare him to Anthony Davis but with a lower ceiling. Anthony Davis will some day reach MVP level. The level that Henson can potenially reach is the level Davis is on right now. An All-Star level. Eventually 19ppg 10rpg 3bpg seasons are not out of the questions for Henson if hes put on a franchise that can get behind him and watch him develop. He might not get that opportunity.

I am a fan of Henson and have followed him closely at UNC. He continued to work on his game in college and now in the pros he is doing the same and improving / developing his game.

My original mock draft comments on Henson before he went pro "Ceiling 10-12ppg, 7reb, top 15 shot blocker. prob a borderline starter in this league"

I think he will do better than these original expectations. He could be a 13/15-8reb guy, top 10 shotblocker in the league.

I know the Pistons were quite high on him coming out of college, if Drummond had not of slipped down Henson might well of been a Piston….

    Henson’s stats are impressive 12 pts/8 rbs/2blks /53%fg considering he only plays 28 minutes a night…..

But he isnt the 2 way player Anthony Davis is yet…He struggles to score in the post and he’s not a good shooter…..This year becuz of the lack of offensive players on the roster,Milwaukee has been trying to run plays for him and its not working…The team attempts 18 3 pointers a game when he’s on the floor, when he’s on the bench it goes up to 21.9 ….

As a Bucks fan, I watch Henson a lot.  I was extremely down on him leading up to the draft, but he really impressed me in his rookie season.  I didn’t notice his BBIQ when he was at UNC, but he really understands the game well, and that goes a long ways.  Mix that in with his crazy length and you have a guy that’s pretty much a safe bet to be a great rebounder and shot blocker.

I also like his potential as a passer for a big man.  He isn’t a good passer right now, but he SEES the passes, and that’s what’s most important for a developing player IMO.

Henson is going to be a really good player.  Maybe not.an all star but an elite.rebounder and shot blocker.  He’s not.a.complete.headcase.like.Sanders.  still needs to get stronger, but he’s got.a bright future.

He is a very nice player.  His post game right now is hindered by his lack of a right hand and inability to draw double teams, but he is a competent scorer who is an excellent defender.  Not the defender Sanders is, but he has much more long-term potential as a two way player.

His offensive game needs diversification, though.  He is a nice offensive rebounder and transition player, but his post game, while pretty when he gets off one of his patented left-handed hooks, is not there yet and his jump shot is pretty bad.  Still, if the Bucks ever get good, he should be an important part.  A Giannis-Henson-Embiid/Wiggins/Parker frontcourt could be pretty damn good down the road.

Like you guys I like Henson a lot. He came into unc projected by most as a small forward. They quickly learned that he would be better suited at the 4 and he worked hard to get bigger, stronger and better every year since then. He is still raw and thin but every year he seems a little bigger and a little more comfortable on the offensive end.

If the bucks can get Sanders back to his upward trajectory from last year they could play them together down low and focus on developing them. Then you throw in giannis with his length and potential and you are looking at a lot of length and talent if developed right. They are all young and could grow their games together.

I would love love to see them get a big pg like dante exum and move knight to the 2. Go with a starting 5 next year of exum, knight, giannis, henson and sanders. This is a long line up that could start off by focusing on being a very good defensive team and then focus on developing their offensive talents from there. I think the key is getting sanders playing well again tho and build off of that.

Bucks low key have a lot of potential for the future. Giannis,Henson,Sanders, Knight, even OJ Mayo is still only 26. Plus they are in position to get the number 1 pick. Milwaukee finally has there chance to make something happen.

The Bucks have a lot talent every one of their players is very inconsistent. They also have no leadership whatsoever. I don’t Henson and Sanders will ever be able to play together though. The offensive floor spacing would be rough. Also, OJ Mayo isn’t good. He peaked as a 7th grader, got caught taking performance and his numbers have been dramatically worse ever since. Memphis and Dallas got immediately better once he left their team. The bucks also have to pay him 8 mil for the next three years.
