IknoBall12ParticipantIs Shaun Livingston having a career resurgence? We saw how well he played against the heat and in deron Williams absence he’s been really good serving has the starting PG. Ever since his gruesome knee injury I never thought he’d be able to recapture any of the potential he could have had but he looks athletic and somewhat quick out there. Anybody think he will be able to start for a franchise someday?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI don’t think so. As good as he’s been as Deron’s backup, the Nets are 15-22.
Let that sink in, he’s a back-up on a 15-22 team.
He’s having a fantastic season and has been the spark on both ends that the Nets have desperately needed this entire season but that’s all he’ll be. A good back-up on an average to below-average team.
The only team I could see him being a starter with is the Lakers, and that’s because their first 3 PGs are injured.

B-ball fanParticipantThe Nets problem is certainly not Livingston. And the Nets have actually been pretty good with Livingston starting. The Nets are 8-3 on the season when Livingston plays 30+ minutes. He still is limited by his lack of shooting, but his playmaking has been an important factor in the Nets recent surge.
Yes, Livingston is probably best suited as a back-up on a serious contender, but he could start for other teams other than the Lakers (such as the Bucks), and is probably one of the better back-up PGs in the game. He could definitely play a significant role, even if that is not starting, on a good team, not just a bad one.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, I never said it was his fault. I stated that he was the lone bright mark on that team.
And I also said that he could start for the Lakers but if we start picking out teams he could start with, the list of would less than 3. Don’t know why I’m getting the negative feedback if I’m stating clear facts.

dacula18ParticipantPerhaps the negative feedback is because he pointed out that they are 8-3 when he plays 30+ min, yet you said he could only start on the Lakers becauser their first 3 PGs are injured. That’s pretty harsh. That’s obviously your opinion and not a "clear fact."

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI said he wouldn’t start on more than 3 teams in the L. Let’s see where he would start
- Celtics – Rondo
- Knicks – Felton
- 76ers – MCW
- Raptors – Lowry
- Nets – Williams
- Mavericks – Calderon
- Rockets – Lin
- Grizzlies – Conley
- Pelicans – Holiday
- Spurs – Parker
- Bulls – Rose
- Cavs – Irving
- Pacers – Hill
- Bucks –
- Nuggets – Lawson
- TWolves – Rubio
- Thunder – Westbrook
- Blazers – Lillard
- Jazz – Burke
- Hawks – Teague
- Bobcats – Walker
- Magic – Nelson/Oladipo
- Wizards – Wall
- Heat – Chalmers
- Warriors – Curry
- Clippers – Paul
- Lakers –
- Suns – Dragic/Bledsoe
- Kings – Thomas
Honestly, where am I wrong here? Each team has a player that is either better than Livingston or fits their offensive scheme better than Livingston except the Lakers and Bucks. It’s clear as day.
The dude is averaging 7-3-3 for the Nets and only 9-4-3 while shooting 41% on his starts; and that’s in nearly 32 MPG.
Am I the only one seeing this?

dacula18ParticipantI actually posted my opinion on what I think his ideal role is (a role player on the Spurs) in a comment below. I was just explaining why you got negative feedback. lol.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI understand that. I just don’t see why people think he could be a starter when he’s barely scraping 8-3-3 this season.
I get it, he has a backstory and everyone wants to see him succeed, but some people are out of their minds.

phila9012ParticipantI agree 100% with you. It is good to see him doing well. I would say he wouldn’t start for the lakers either, your stats were right. Marshall is getting 14 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds a game in his 5 starts. Those are with Nick Young being their best scorer, so he doesn’t really have anyone to pass the ball to and he still has 11 assists a game. So the Bucks would be the only team he would start on. That isn’t because he is bad, it is because the point guard position is very strong now.

jwall1ParticipantNo, I agree with you. Hes a good back up I just don’t see how he could impact the team enough to make them go 8-3 when playing 30 mpg. Most likely just a coincidence….

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantPlus, the Nets are 8-7 when he starts.

I mean, they are hardly winning when he starts.
Not to mention, they’re only 10-9 when he plays over his season average in minutes.

King CaluchaParticipantI think he would be solid if he starts in a fast-paced system like D’Antoni’s. He looks athletic enough to defend decently and cause trouble offensively off the P&R

For_Never_EverParticipantI wouldnt want him as a my starter, but as a back up he’ll be great with that size and defense. He is solid passer not so much a play maker nor is he a offensive threat. So many great and good PG’s, he could only be a starter for a team without one.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe’s a backup, but a guy who can start if you need him to. Who cares though? The dude has fought his way back from arguably the most devastating knee injury in sports history. For me to see him dunk off of one step and just take off with confidence makes me smile… Really happy for him because it’s not easy getting over the mental hurdle of that type of injury.

dacula18ParticipantI’ve always wanted to see him go to a team like the Spurs or any team with a coach creative enough to make good use of his unique skill set. A guy like him has something to offer, but bad teams with bad coaches aren’t going to be able to get the most out of him.

jwall1ParticipantWell he could start for the Bucks or Lakers right now. His resurgence has been a nice story but the reality is the NBA is stacked at the point guard position and if he were to start on the Bucks or Lakers he would probably be the worst starting pg in the league. I don’t see him being a starter in the future either, but he will be a good backup if he can stay healthy.
