3 No Biases 3ParticipantHow crazy is this start for the Suns?
They sit at 18-11 and on paper their roster looked like a #1 pick candidate.
Not one of their players has ever started for an above average team prior to this year. Goran Dragic was their most proven player and he was solid at best before this season. Obviously everyone had high hopes for Bledsoe but I don’t think anyone thought he would translate to an immediate turnaround.
The contributions of Green and Plumlee have been surprising as well. Plumlee, who everyone thought was the worst 1st round pick ever, is nearly averaging a double double. Green is turning in to a solid 3 and D type player and recently had 19- 22- 22 pts in 3 consecutive wins.
I’m not sure this was in their plans but its insane what they’re doing, everyone is contributing, the Morris twins are playing well, and Bledsoe and Dragic could be MVP candidates if they continue to win.

FritzParticipantYou had a good post but killed it with your last sentence. Lets start with All-star candidates which Im not even sure they will make it because of the loaded west, but they are not even close to being in the discussion for MVP.

XYRYXParticipantI have to agree here. I gave the creator a thumb up because I really think the Suns are so good cause coach Horny is bringing this whole bunch of random players together and is forming a true team first mentality.
My only concern is that this team overperforms so much this year that they don’t really can add more talent through the draft next summer. On the other hand players who don’t really show a lot like Goodwin or Len have a bright future and may end up beeing very valuable to this team.
But the Suns impress me a lot and seeing teams like the Nets, Knicks or Cavs struggeling with chemistry while having better talent. But Dragic and Bledsoe are at best All Stars and nowhere near any MVP rankings.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantI don’t agree at all. Do you know what MVP stands for? I don’t think they will win MVP, Lebron and Paul George will be 1 & 2, but they could at least be in the discussion. I mean they could have the worst roster in league history to make the playoffs and without Bledsoe for instance, they would be a high lottery team. To me thats an MVP candidate.

azphxsuns10ParticipantI agree with 100% borderline all-stars but no way are they MVP candidates. Regardless though what they have done has been very impressive.

MUbballfanParticipant100% agree with this. As 3 No Biases said this team was supposed to be bad enough to contend for the number one pick but are 7 games over .500.

HitsterParticipantBledsoe and Dragic could be MIP contenders but not MVP and Phoenix are my favourite team as you may know.
It has been a real team effort by the whole franchise so far this season and the roster has been very settled with 8 players being the main rotation and scoring between 18 and 9 ppg. Also our top 5 pick Alex Len has only plaayed 4 games and the previous years’ draft pick Kendall Marshall was traded away.
It’s good to see Channing Frye back and playing well after his health issues, Miles Plumlee has been a total surprise for if he had shown anything like this form with the Pacers they would not have given him away.
I’m happy to enjoy the current run and if we do fall back below .500 across the season so be it as at worse it pushes us up a loaded draft board. After years of trading picks away we are currently looking at 3 first round picks next year and perhaps a 4th if the T-wolves improve a lot.
I doubt we could package them all to move right up if we do stay further down the lottery but it gives us loads of draft options and could maybe do a deal to move up with a couple of picks depending on what other teams do. Even if we do have the 4 first rounders come draft day, in a deeper draft we could get a shot at guys who would be top 10 talent in other years.

Afactor4ParticipantI think the Morris Twins coming off the bench have been HUGE for them. Either of them have a shout for the 6th man. The value of having a second unit keeping up with scoring when the first unit rests is still sometimes underestimated.

HitsterParticipantMost teams need a scoring option off the bench and Phoenix with the Morris Twin Towers have a double big man scoring threat from the bench which gives them a useful advantage over other teams especially as they don’t have a volume scorer who can drop 20ppg night in night out.
Also the Phoenix frontcourt rotation are sharing minutes out fairly evenly and in Marcus Morris and Channing Frye they have two bigs who have hit nearly 100 3 pointers combined so far this season which no other team can match. Throw in Gerald Green who is in the top 10 for 3 pointers this season and you can see that Phoenix have a lot of good bench scoring options so a very valid point by Ara Minats.
