    report——

The Lakers will sign Kendall Marshall to a contract, according to Yahoo Sports!

The Lakers are down to the likes of Jodie Meeks and Xavier Henry at point guard, so desperate times call for desperate measure here. Marshall has really struggled in scoring the ball at any almost level, shooting 37.1 percent from the field with the Suns last year.

However, he’s averaging 19.4 points, 9.6 assists and 1.9 steals in his nine games in the D-League this season. Coach Mike D’Antoni has helped create a lot of fantasy production for points guards, but Marshall is only worth a look in deep leagues for now. He will join the team in Los Angeles and could play as soon as Friday against the Wolves.

never been a believer in marshall, but lakers need a pg desperately. It went from the beginning of the season where I was really impressed with farmar and blake and nash was starting and I was wondering how they were gonna find minutes for all three, to all of them are out and kobe comes back and is forced into playing pg full time and there is no one who can break down defenses consistently at the pg spot. Henry has been playing pg these past few weeks, but he is by no means a distributor and what happens when he sits? Meeks isn’t even close to a point guard. Nick young might be the next guy in line and he doesn’t like passing. If Marshall could have ever asked for another opportunity to prove he belongs in th eleague, this is a great opportunity for him.

A pure passing PG is perfect for Mike Dántoni. Anyone else surprised Shannon Brown hasn’t gotten a call from the Lakers?

Kendall is talented enough to be in the NBA.  He has quickness limitations of course, but if he can come even close to the passer he was during his time at North Carolina, he could be a steal for the Lakers.  He also really needs to develop that J because teams will sag off of him.

This will be his last chance, if you can’t make it work under D’Antoni, you can’t make it work anywhere. He has plenty of shooters, minutes, the right pace of play and basically a free reign (because let’s face it, the team is now officially tanking) to do his thing.

I still find it hard to believe that he can’t play in this league, I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do.

I think he can be a second or 3rd point guard in the league. He should excited to have this opertunity because this is his one shot. If he does bad then he should be out of the league until he develops a jumpshot and improves as a defender. If he does good then he will stay in the league. He is an ideal back up for mike diantoni’s system because it plays to his strengths.

The picture that you posted of Marshall at UNC made me think… How can Marshall not make a team but Rivers can?? I don’t think Rivers’ athletisism is THAT great…
