TarHeelRavenParticipantMr. Sulaimon has basically dropped off the face of the earth during his sophomore season at Duke. Does anybody know what has happened to him. He had a really strong freshman season and people were talking about the lottery if he continued that into his sophomore year. He didn’t play any during the Michigan game. It’s obvious that Rodney Hood and Jabari Parker and the studs of the team and are taking the majority of the shots this season. Last year, Sulaimon played with lesser talent in Mason Plumlee, Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly and really thrived. Has Sulaimon lost confidence since Hood and Parker take the majority of the shots this year? Are there chemistry issues? Sulaaimon is a really good defender. Cook, Hood and Parker are gifted offensively, but pretty weak defenders. Coach K has bascially relegated Sulaimon to the bench. I feel bad for the guy because his stock has plummeted and his career in professional basketball is in serious jeopardy if this continues. Is a transfer in order?

JNixonParticipantHe probably will play next season, but depending on who they recruit he may need to transfer. I dont know why he doesnt play anymore, he was a solid shooter and defender last season for dude.
Its funny you made this post, me and a friend of mine who’s a Duke fan was just talking about this. I thought he was like, hurt or something.

JamesBaker3195ParticipantI honestly think its a loss in confidence thats caused this slump. At the end of the season last year he was thought to be the new man on campus and the star of the team. Since then he’s seen Hood and Parker come in and take control of the team on the wing. I think next year, even with Jones/Okafor and Winslow heading to Durham he will be better with Hood and Parker probably heading off to the NBA. He’ll be the leader of that team.

mikeyvthedonParticipantSince the Kansas game he has really struggled. Just not using his head and his shot was not falling. He was held out of the Michigan game, so I am guessing he must be doing something that is not gaining Mike Krzyzewski’s favor. He put it bluntly that "he has to be better than the guys who played (against Michigan)". He is not much aof a pentrator and his shot was just not falling. After a while, if a guy is not playing his role efficiently, you need to look for other options.
He does have nice mechanics on his shot, just not a lot else about him that blows you away. I know some have considered him a combo guard, really have not seen it. He is not a great ball handler and still makes quite a few mental errors on both ends. Sulaimon can definitely come back from this, just hard to blame two 6’8" multi-faceted offensive options for Rasheed’s struggles on that end.
Also, for as much as he may be a better individual defender than just about any player on the team positionally, Duke’s main issue is down low as opposed to the perimeter. Which means if Rasheed is not off setting that by nailing the shots he usually does, it is hard to keep him on the floor. Has played Zach LaVine pretty well just now, just needs to pick his spots a bit better as far as shot selection and he will likely be back getting the minutes he was last season. He still has time to turn it around, he is only a sophomore and I truly believe he was destined to spend 3-4 years in college.

TRC1991ParticipantSulaimon, once moved into the starting lineup, completely began to suck…He needs to come off the bench where he was surprisngly more productive

IknoBall12ParticipantI’m trying to figure out what the hell defense y’all are talking about? He is not a good defender. Between last year and this year I’ve watched him play and he was decent but never a good defender. That’s the reason he can’t stay on the floor now. He isn’t hitting shots and he’s not really defending all that well. So why play him? I’d gladly go with the sharpshooting dawkins
