Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI, like many other basketball fans, love to check out the boxscores of the games that I did not watch that evening.
After looking through a few of them, one completely popped out. The Portland Trailblazers complete beatdown of the 76ers. Not only was it a beatdown, but it was a beatdown of historic proportions!
The Blazers won the game 139 – 105. A few notes:
- Each player on the Blazers that dressed for tonight’s game scored.
- 12 of the 13 players that suited up had at least 1 assist, with the exception of Meyers Leonard who played 5 minutes.
That’s not the historic part though.
The Blazers knocked down 21 three point shots! Not only is that the 12th time that an NBA team has knocked down 20+ three-pointers in a single game, they shot the 3ball at a 56.8% rate; in the top 10 of said games.
It doesn’t stop there… the Blazers tallied up a total of 41 assists!
If you think that’s something, this is the first time in NBA history that a team nails 20 or more threes while tallying up 40 or more assists. The closest another team has gotten to putting up these numbers? Phoenix in 2011 against the TWovles in OT as they put up 40/18.

Sewok15ParticipantThis is more the type of performance I expected from my Sixers. They are back on track to have a horrible season and have only won 1 road game. I doubt they win 5 road games all year. They were in Philly tonight and only down 7 at the half but lost their way in the 3rd quarter. The Blazers wouldn’t miss.

LipstickParticipantHad they scored 140 points, they would’ve been the 11th to do so while taking only 20 free throw attempts.

TRC1991ParticipantI cant believe they didn’t get to 140 points…they had 124 with 8:30 remaining…

Sotos14ParticipantAnother thing I noticed was all started had at least 12pts while none of them reaching 30 minutes this game. Very impressive team effort.

jmarg25ParticipantThey scored 139 points yet no individual had more than 20 points. Thats probably a good sign; everybody on the team can put up points.

vulture711ParticipantAs a Sixer fan – somewhat baffling the obsession with leaving 3 point shooters pretty open while cheating to protect the paint – against a team who surrounds who surrounds the 3 point line with shooters and whose interior game in Aldridge is really a guy who likes to face up. Would you double Lopez and leave Batum open ? Seems kind of silly and this has repeated itself all year. Overly concerned with guarding the post against teams that really don’t have a post presence while guys who knock down 3s get open looks
