piratejpParticipantOklahoma City receives Omer Asik
Houston receives Marvin Williams & Enes Kanter
Utah receives Kendrick Perkins, Perry Jones, Isaiah Canaan, Donatas Motiejunas, Oklahoma City’s 1st rounder in 2014 and the earliest of the three 2nd rounders which Houston owns.
It works on trade machine and makes Houston & OKC better and Utah worse in the short term, which is what everyone wants. Utah loses Kanter, but gets picks & young players with potential. A late 1st & Jones are worth it for OKC to go from Perkins to Asik for the next two years at the same cap number. Houston gets a good haul for a player it needs to move and what amounts to spare parts on a contending team. Any of them nix it?

nick5354ParticipantNo way Utah does this.
Enes Kanter has masisve potential. He is only 21, a former 3rd pick, is a man mountain and putting up nice stats in his 3rd year. Jazz let Millsap and Jefferson walk in order to put more mintues and attention into Kanter. Would make 0 sense to then trade him away. You said in this trade they get young players with potential…Kanter is a young player with potential!
Perry Jones is not the attractive player he once was, even though in his limited time for OKC he has looked nice. Let’s not forget he was red flagged and slipped massively in the draft.
Jazz just traded for Burke in the draft so again would be odd to trade for another young guard or think he will challenge burke for his role.
Utah suck anyway? Why would they trade away players in order to get worse? They cannot get any worse!!
They can still keep their future big men in Kanter and get a top 3 pick.
Just not enough in it for the Jazz. Would be a trainwreck.

piratejpParticipantI don’t usually like these either, so I get the negs…but the Asik thing has occupied my mind for some reason. So when I finally came up with something I thought seemed to work, I posted it here because I’m genuinely curious if you think it works, or if not, who do you think falls short? I post on here in small spurts every year or two, so its not like I’m a spammer. 🙂
So if you don’t like it, who loses? Utah? If so, who has to give up extra/higher picks (or whatever) to make it work? Anyway, thanks for taking a look, appreciate any comments and apologies for cluttering your board. Peace.

piratejpParticipantGuess you’re right that I’m undervaluing Kanter quite a bit. Okay, cool…thanks. Back to the Asik puzzle.

piratejpParticipantOkay, that was stupid, but it’s late…sorry. Pressing on since I’ve got nothing to lose at this point:
Anyone else have any ideas on Asik not already covered extensively elsewhere?
What about something more reasonable like this:
OKC gets Asik
Houston gets M. Thornton & OKC 1st rounder – fills a need & they’d love the pick
Sacramento gets K. Perkins, P. Jones, Houston’s middle 2nd rounder this year and two (three?) additional 2nd rounders in future drafts (Sacramento is minus theirs in like 5 of the next 6 and Houston has a gazillion).
It works in trade machine – would they do it?0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/12/2013 - 12:13am #855978
