Looking at the roster what value do you give some of these guys?

Pau Gasol- Still a very good big man in a league that has few. Hard to trade because of huge salary. Maybe a team like OKC would take him for a run this year. How about a…

( Pau for Perkins, Lamb and fillers, while using the Martin Trade Exception 6.5 million. )

Steve Nash- Only reason he’s tradable is because his money can come off the books. Maybe a deal with the 76ers…

( Nash for J Rich and Evan Turner )

And then everyone else is on 1 years deals. Nick Young can opt in to a deal next year.

The two deals I was thinking their was trying to get young players that you can build with or that have value down the road in the league. Not saying they should do it. Just trowing sh!t at the wall and see if any of it sticks.

My first post, I figured I should do it on a Lakers thread seeing how that is my team!  While those aren’t bad ideas, I like the first one but if I am correct a trade exception cannot be coupled with any other players? I could be wrong about that.

I think if the Lakers move Pau it would be to swallow another teams bad contract coupled with a draft pick or two

Maybe something like Pau for Zach Randolph should work with fillers if necessary and a top 5 protected 2014 pick. Gives Memphis another Gasol and an expiring which I think they value about all else.

Randolph most likely opts in which eats up the majority of the 2014 cap room but preserves it for 2015 when it really matters.

I got a feeling we are going to see the brothers playing in memphis together.  (Next year)

As a laker fan ill be the first to tell you that  no one outside of jordan hill has any real trade value. Blake and meeks are playing really well and im sure they could really help a contending team but I don’t think we could get much for them.

And unless the lakers are willing to trade gasol for 2 years of boozer and a sweetener im not sure they can get anything of value for him in another deal.

The lakers really screwed up giving kobe too much money and it will cost them in their cap flexibility this summer.

How about Wesley Johnson?  He is playing very solid minutes and efficiently as well.  He is not making much though, so would not be the centerpiece of any deal, but could certainly be a filler type piece in a bigger deal.  Still trying to figure out if he is finally "getting it" in the Association or if he is a product of the D’antoni system.  Just saying there is some value there.

Gasol has always been coveted by the Bulls.  Wonder if they could make that work with a Boozer deal.  The Bulls need to start making moves to open up a spot for Mirotic.

As much as I love Nash, at this point in his career he isn’t worth JRich and Evan Turner. Evan Turner is young and playing fairly well. Nash is injured and seems to be past his prime.

I think Jordan Hill, Pau, Xavier Henry, and Nick Young have decent trade value.

As long as they’re in contention, no one is going anywhere.

Worse yet, they might want to hold on to Gasol and Hill because it might not seem worth it to trade them when they think they can re-sign them next year. I’d like to see everyone go because… well, that’s more fun.

Someone mentioned Jeremy Lamb. I really like that dude.  It might be interesting if they swung Jordan Hill for him. The salaries are still a little off, but anything to make the Lakers younger.

As a fan, my dream is they miss playoffs, get a little lucky in the lottery, and get the 5th pick. It won’t happen, but I’m allowed to dream.

I agree that Jordan Hill has the most significant trade value, as for the majority of the other guys like Wesley Johnson and Xavier Henry.  They are on 1 year minimum deals.  They could maybe help a contenders bench but Wes Johnson is more a product of D’Antoni’s system… The Lakers smartest move with him would be to offer him a longer minimum deal much like what the Rockets did with Chandler Parsons, so somewhere down the line the salary to production becomes a steal.

The fact that Xavier is on a minimum deal for one year means a team would not be willing to give much of anything at all for him.  If they really liked him they would wait until the offseason seeing how nobody can have his bird rights.

As a Laker fan swallowing Boozers 2 years left would not be bad as long as it was accompanied by a Draft Pick, preferably Charlottes pick or this years Bulls pick which they would be reluctant to part with.  AND OR the rights to Nikola Mirotic.  One of those would have to be present in the deal and I am sure the Lakers would push for both.  I think Derrick Rose getting hurt pretty much killed any chances of this deal going down but it is something that I would push for as a Lakers fan.

The dropoff from Pau to Boozer isn’t much the way that Pau is playing and even the potential that Mirotic would come over would be worth it as he is an idea Stretch 4 for D’Antoni.

Gasol will be an interesting FA next summer for teams looking for a quality starting big man. He’ll be 34 years old then and will have to take a significant reduction from his current $19 million a year but for around $12 million a year, he’d be decent value.

The Lakers may decide to extend him early as with Kobe’s new deal, they will have limited cap space, if not then they would need to renounce him as his $19 million would count against the cap in theory until they did that.

Jordan Hill would have good trade value currently but the Lakers would not want to do too much this season unless they could make a move to make the team stronger. With the team staying at around .500 without Kobe, with him back they might hope to get into the play offs and Kobe would expect them to for one.

As a side point, does Kobe’s "no trade" clause still count for the next two years.
