Jayhawks2011ParticipantDo you guys think the nba would ever move to top in each division then just the next best teams and get rid of divisions. I understand the need for conferences for ease of scheduleing, but shouldnt the NBA want the best teams in the playoffs. Wouldnt it rather have the twolves than the bobcats. I mean the NBA should have the best playing in the Playoffs
Anyways this wont happen this year, but do you think NBA wil eventually change the playoff seeding and rules?

KingGeorgeParticipantThough I believe that divisions are useless, for obvious schduling reasons, I don’t think an 82-game season can be played without seperate conferences. However, I do believe that conference seeding is unfair and needs to end. I think that the teams with the best 16 records should make the postseason irregardless of conference. Sick and tired of seeing mediocre and even sub-.500 teams occupy the bottom 4 seeds in the East while far more deserving teams out West are forced to watch the playoffs on TV.

TomShoeParticipantTo be honest, I wish they would, but it’s not likely to happen because of logisitics issues.
Since the playoffs and the finals are in 2-2-1-1-1 format, say if the Clippers were matched up against the Wizards, they’d have to fly back and forth across the country 4 times just for that series. That would be a travel nightmare.
But they really need to do something about that disparity. The East is so bad, the BOBCATS are in the playoffs and not the Grizzlies, even with a worse record. It’s getting out of control.
