Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIt seems as if the Rockets have finally found their long-term starting PF (barring an Asik trade for a veteran PF).
Terrence Jones has played extremely well and has had some huge games this season at the PF spot.
In 12 games, he’s currently averaging 9.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, while shooting 53.6% from the field.
Since becoming the starting PF though (7 games), he’s been on a tear. He’s now averaging 14.4 PPG, 8.1 RPG, while shooting 56.2% from the field while nailing one 3pter per game.
The Rockets are also 6-2 when he plays big minutes and only 3-3 when he doesn’t. Including 0-2 in games where he didn’t play at all.
He’s racked up 3 double-doubles in 7 games as a starter as well. As well as a 24-9 game where he shot 10-12.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI completely agree. He knows what it takes to win and he fits in with the rockets perfectly. A semi stretch for how is playing like he has something to prove. I’ve always liked t jones.

LitteringAnd…ParticipantI’m really glad he’s doing well, I thought he had a lot of upside coming out and was pretty worried he’d get buried in the rotation. But, they’ve given him a chance and he’s taken it.

r377ParticipantI liked him coming out of high school but he didn’t quite live up to my expectations at the college level. Glad to see him play well when given the chance.

phila9012ParticipantHe is a great compliment to dwight howard. He is a face up PF, if he works on his 3 point shooting it should be even better because he has a good amount of potential.

iguapops420ParticipantI really lied Terrence after his sophmore year watching him defer to greater players and adapt to a defensive role for the benefit of a greater prize. The moment I saw him guarding the post defensively that game I became sold. Looks as though he has started to really find his niche as an athletic defensive hybrid 4.
TOL23, any answer as to why Motie hasn’t really had a chance during the regular season to shine? He seemed to really have developed during preseason and I expectyed him to be primed fpor a breakout year. Is it consistency, defensive question marks, or something else?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantTo keep it simple. He’s not ready.
He struggles against good defenders and physical matchups. He’s kind of soft. Doesn’t play well on defense and isn’t as quick on his feet as I thought he would be. He’s also out of shape most of the time.
Also, the Rockets have been playing Casspi a lot at the 4 and he’s really worked out coming off the bench in that spot (8.5 PPG – 4 RPG – 44% FG – 40% 3PT) and with TJones starting, there aren’t any minutes left.
In addition, the Rockets love to run the ball and Motie is more of a halfcourt player, it seems. A shame, I expected a lot from him too.

iguapops420ParticipantShame, Motie really seemed to have those young Pau Gasol qualities in being able to get up and down the court and quicl offensive moves. Shame, hopefully he finds a team eventually who will can use his offensive talents in the halfcourt, but it will be on him to get himself in shape to allow those teams to want to give him a shot.
