hbomb3300ParticipantRose’s injury could turn out to be a small plus. An ACL tear takes over 2 years to FULLY heal and return to normal form. If his current injury heals properly it will be fully healed in 5-6 months. Rose will be able to run and jump in 3-4 months no problem. This means he will have all summer to work out and return his body to full strength. This should help him return the balance of strength to his legs and assist in preventing future non contact injuries.

Moon RiverParticipantI am a glass half full guy myself but this D. Rose injury really sucks.
I think the only positive I am taking away from this is that it really forces the Bulls management to start making some personnel decisions, prior to summer 2014.

XYRYXParticipantI see your point but I’m way to concerned about his mental situation. It’s not like he hasn’t been under the media microscope till now. The pressure is immense and there will ALWAYS be concerns about his durability and stamina from now on, not to mention he has the biggest contract on the team.
This whole thing might break a humble guy like him and I’m not talking about his knees.

Tim49461ParticipantI’m literally staring at the med. book in front of me. No where does it take 2 years to FULLY heal. What does that even mean?
With proper Rehab ACL’s take 6 months to become fully functional again. It is the ligament being accepted by the body and regaining the ligaments proper flexability.
All studies show that once an injury has happened within the knee, the chances it happens again increases greatly. You are looking at the end of Rose’s career, He will never have the same explosiveness again.

hbomb3300ParticipantFunctional and feeling back to normal are two very different things. Every one I’ve ever talked to who had an acl tear have said it took two years to feel normal again. I’m not saying Rose will ever return to pre injury form, I am only pointing out the extra time off will benefit his body in the long run and let him break through any mental blocks he has formed. This is DEFENITLEY not the end of his career.
