Despite his bad shooting night from behind the arc (2-12), I was extremely impressed with Gary Harris tonight. State was playing Virginia Tech, who is not a very good team, but Harris really stoodout to me. He stayed aggressive and did not lose any confidence, even after missing 10 consecutive three-pointers. Despite his poor shooting night, he still had a huge impact on both ends of the floor. I love him as a prospect and I think he can be a really good pro. What do you guys think?

If you are extremely impressed with players who miss 10 3’s in a game and keep shooting you must love JR Smith.

Tonight was unusual of Gary Harris…He’s usually effiicient to a fault…He’s not any worse of a prospect than Bradley Beal was coming out of Florida 2 years ago

No way, Beal’s game, athleticism, body, were all much more suitable the Nba, than Harris’. To be honest I had and I still have many doubts on him as a nba prospect and I thought he was a candidate to slip in mock drafts if he started slow. He proved me wrong for now and has started pretty good, so probably I’m totally wrong on him and he’s going to be good on the Nba too.

Still I think he’s somewhat undersized and not long enough or much of an athlete to make for it. Then again, he’s smart and more mature than a sophomore.usually is, and you can see how a guy like JJ Redick is succesful as a undersized 2 with no athleticism and with t-rex arms. Not saying they’re the same kind of player (Harris is a good shooter, but not as good as JJ) or athlete (Harris is a lot better and has decent wingspan), just sayibg sometimes IQ on the floor makes up for other shortcomings.

But I’d still take Beal over Harris any day.

Here’s the thing: you’ve seen how good Beal is right now – so that’s why you’re disagreeing with what I have to say

But coming out of Florida, before we knew how good of a pro he’d become – he wasn’t THAT much different of a prospect than Harris is now

I’d even argue Gary Harris is the better athlete…

Gary Harris is a very underrated athlete. He played all last year with an injured back and shoulder which significantly decreased his ability to play above the rim. This is what the real Gary Harris is capable of…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxnhIrxkakA

As far as size goes Bradley beal measured in at 6’4.75" with shoes and a 6’8" wingspan at the nba draft

Gary Harris measured in at 6’5" with shoes and a 6’7" wingspan at the various skill academy camps prior to his freshman season at MSU.

I think Beal is a very good starting point for comparing Gary Harris’s NBA potential. One other thing about this comparison is their shooting numbers from their freshman year.

    Gary Harris 3pt Pct   65/158  41.1%

    Bradley Beal 3pt Pct 33.9%

The narrative that Bradley Beal is an elite shooter continued throughout his freshman year despite his poor shooting numbers. Harris came in known as a slasher and was forced to shoot lot’s of jumpers due to his injuries. I think downplaying his long term potential as a shooter is unwise given his outstanding production thus far in his career, especially compared to Beal. I think both will be very good NBA players in a few years.

I’m saying that is impressive how much Gary Harris impacts games even without shooting the ball well.

I didn’t watch the game so I can’t speak to that but he did have 5 assists as well as 2 of the teams 6 turnovers. He also had 3 rebounds to go along with his 0 blocks and steals. I am not a Harris hater but this just seems like an odd game to praise him for looking at the boxscore. Dawson, Appling and Payne combined for 54 points on 64% shooting while Harris took 19 shots in 25 minutes on the floor and missed 13 of them.

How did he effect the game? Was it attacking the rim and leaving easy offensive rebounds for his teammates? It seems like the only way he really could judging from his statline.
