Blake Griffin

 Blake Griffin hate is definitely misplaced but with that being said I’m glad to see his rebounding numbers up.

The Griffin hate also comes from the fact he’s on every other commercial these days and seems to be somewhat smug. I personally have always been a fan of Blakes but try to hide it on this site because of the backlash that comes with that. He’s certainly more than a dunker but no where near the player Kevin Love is.

Blake gets killed for being a flopper and whining too much. While I do agree he flops too much and it drives me nuts, he does seem to get hacked almost every time he gets in the paint and doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt from the refs the way that Durant, Lebron, or even Jamal Crawford get. His all around game is very underrated , his jumps shot and free throws are improved this year but nothing to write home about just yet and his post game still isn’t there yet.

He get’s killed for not being tough enough but he’s averaged 20 and 10 for his first 3 years in the league while a player like Amare never once averaged 10 rebounds at any point in his career.

All in all he’s a very polarizing player in that fact that most people either love or hate him and those opinions can only be changed with time either way.

He’s not the most polished player in the post, but he also doesn’t have the luxury of just raising up and shooting over defenders in the post because of his below average length. Even if it’s early, he’s still scoring on roughly 49% of his post up opportunities at a .93 point per possession clip. That is good enough for 10th in the entire league. He’s also shooting 41% on his mid-range jumpers which is a solid rate as well. People who still call him just a dunker are either being willfully ignorant or don’t know what they’re looking at.

Most guys would have to take a tough floater or contested layup in traffic in order to get the two points and aren’t converting these plays at the near 100% clip Griffin does. If he catches the ball anywhere from the dotted line in and you don’t meet him with some serious help D he is putting it home every time. The guy is shooting 57% from the floor although many question his offensive game.
