This kid is scary. He is really good. This is his third official collegiate game and he had to go up against Michigan state. Which is an incredibly tough task for any 18 year old especially with it being so early in the season. I like everything he brings to the table. He attacks the basket hard but he is under control. He doesn’t pick up offensive fouls from being out of control. I love how physical he is and how he embraces contact at all times. There was a time the camera zoomed in on him and the wildcats and you could see him telling his teammates to basically pick up their intesity and that it was time to make a run. That show’s he has that fire in his belly that we all would like to see in high level prospects. Only things I can nitpick at are his turnovers, his free throw shooting and I would like to see him finish with his right a bit more but that is about it.  I think Randle may have a crazy freshman season. Something like 21ppg and 11rpg.The kid is that good to me.

Yea, he is a monster, crazy thing about the Michigan state game is if he would have been remotley decent in the first half he would have had 40 literally on the #1 team(Now MSU with the win) in the country, he is going to be a beast this year.

Also props to James Young people sleeping on him.

Absolutely will dominate college, I have my doubts about him in the NBAthough I would take him with a 3rd pick.

I would easily take Wiggins and Jabari over hm. I see Randle having turnover problems in the NBA to go with getting his shot blocked frequently

You see him having turnover problems in his NBA career from one game?  GTFO out of here.

I’ve seen Randle play plenty of times, in hs games, allstar games, …. I’ve been preaching how he trucks and finishes somewhat under the rim.

His defense was just as bad as his offense was good. He’s going to dominate the NCAA though and he already has better post moves than a lot of NBA starters.

Yeah, you really can’t overlook how bad he was on defense. I have no doubt he’ll stroll into the NBA and average a double double, and he’s worth a top 3 pick, but he’s got a long way to go on the defensive end of the floor. Payne abused him on the perimeter, and in the post, but it was Randle’s insane motor that got him in foul trouble too, so in a different way…he took him out of the game.

It’s hard to not walk away from the game not being impressed with his motor and post skill, but he’s got a ways to go too. If his off court work ethic is anything like the way he plays, I feel he’ll improve on that end too.

I thought he was a beast but one thing that annoyed me is I feel like everytime they showed Randle or one of the Harrisons maybe both of them they were always complaining about a foul or something. Hes a stud so im just nitpicking but that stood out to me.

I agree with that sentiment that that’s a bad precedence to set, but lord the officiating is awful for ALL teams this early.

I gotta see more of him before I can get a good idea of his game.  Through 3 games, we’ve seen that he doesn’t really finish with his right at all, even in situations where it would be far easier to finish with the right; he seems to struggle finishing in general so far (if you guys watched the first 2 games, he must have missed over 10 bunnies in those two games); he struggles with turnovers, free throw shooting, and defense.

I think he’ll be a good pro because you can clearly see he has the motor, and he’s pretty athletic and talented for a young kid, but he is definitely not without his flaws.  And that’s not me trying to slight him, because Wiggins and Parker have their own flaws as well.

He struggles with finishing?  I feel like I must be watching a different player.  His first 72 points of his NCAA career have all come either on the interior or at the FT line.  He could use his right hand more, but he gets away with it by getting right into the defender’s chest when he shoots in the post.  Yes, he has missed a few shots down low, but that is because just about every shot he takes is down low, often in swarm of defenders.  Any player who works in the post like he does is going to miss his fair share, but Randle’s finishing has been very efficient overall, with him following his misses, getting to the FT line, and shooting a very high percentage around the basket.

Randle doesn’t have the all-around game of Wiggins and Parker, so he may not have their long-term potential, but his aggressiveness is uncommon for any player.  I do agree that how the season will likely influence people’s perceptions of Randle more, since his game is based upon his assertiveness and ability to attack.  Wiggins can always make plays in the flow of the game and Parker has the jump shot and all-around game to make a consistent impact.  Randle doing so well against Michigan State is a phenomenal sign for him, because that was the best defensive team UK is likely to play all year.  State really collapsed around Randle, even triple-teaming him, and he still scored efficiently.

I agree that the game yesterday was a great sign.  My comment about struggling with finishing was more about the first two games against far inferior competition.  He’s an animal in terms of following his misses, but he missed a ton of easy layups in those first two games.

The NBA is more about guarding your position than scoring against your position.
