Cynthia bashes Steven Adams and is wrong.
Quotes from Cynthia :
“As I said before, Adams will be a career DLeaguer and be tossed away as soon as his rookie contract is over, like all the other “project” bigs the Sonics/Thunder have drafted in the past decade.”
“My entire point on the situation is that Olynyk is ready NOW, he can come in 10 or so minutes a game and grab a few points and rebounds. Adams? Will probably never hit the floor other than the DLeague.”
Olynyk 22mpg

Sewok15ParticipantThe season has just started but the fact that Adams is contributing already is a great sign considering most people saw him as a major project. Olynyk ripping up the summer league brought with lofty expectations that he clearly wasn’t going to live up to…I mean some people were saying he was going to win ROY around here. Both are going to be solid NBA rotational big guys who probably won’t be top 15 players at their position but they both clearly have value.
Adams size, strength, defense and athleticism definitely makes him the more promising prospect with a much higher ceiling but most people already knew that.

HaleParticipantI’m not really even disagreeing. Just think that a handful of games into an NBA season is hardly justification. If you make me side with Siggy vs. Cynthia, I’ll go Siggy every time, but Adams could get hurt tomorrow and never play again. Stranger things have happened.

You and your trade ideas are the last ones to be judging other individuals and calling them out.

XYRYXParticipantTo me Olynik still has major potemtial and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a top 5 rookie when this season is over. He started today and had a decent game while shot again wasn’t falling. I was rooting for Kelly too and was thinking he would have been a good fit for the Thunder. He usually is an incredible efficient offensive player and once he really is adopted to the offensive system.
On te other hand Adams success is clearly surprising and shows his strong work ethik and detication so far but you have to admit that if Perk would be half decent by now Adams wouln’t be in position to shine so early.
In the end I believe both will be good players.

JoeWolf1You can’t hang your entire arguement on other players from the same team. Sene has nothing to do with Steven Adams. Xavier Henry has nothing to do with Andrew Wiggins, and Chris Duhon had nothing to do with Kyrie Irving a couple years ago. Listing past failures, who wore the same uniform, as a reason why a unproven and completely unique player will fail is one of the most flawed arguements I see recycled by many posters on this site.

mcbaileyParticipantCynthia is not right or wrong at this point. The sample size is too small.

CynthiaParticipantI no longer live in Oklahoma, so I’ve been unable to watch any of their games yet. I have League Pass which apparently plays everyone but the Thunder (anyone else noticed that?). I’ve heard Adams was doing pretty good though.
It’s still too early to say if he will consistantly keep up his stats the way they are, but then again like someone else said when your only competition is Perkins then it’s hard not to look good. But as it stands right now I was wrong.
Brooks usually doesn’t give young guys much burn, he likes to stick with the same crap even though the rest of the league has figured it out, so I’m more surprised he’s giving Adams 20 minutes than I am that Adams is actually doing pretty good.
By the way, the fact you even dug this up shows you must have a lot of anger in your heart. You may need to see a therapist.

GronounoursParticipantWhen you throw around "bold predictions", you must be prepared to be called out when you’re wrong. No need to suggest than the guy has "a lot of anger in [his] heart". Personally, I’m tired of those silly predictions.

SiggyParticipantUh, I don’t need you to gloat for me homey.
I wasn’t completely right either. I was a big fan of Adams, to the point of being accused of having a mancrush, but even I didn’t think he’d earn such an integral role on his team this early.
I still stand behind my original argument though. For what the team needs Adams >>>>
If he keeps up what he’s doing he’s the missing piece to their team because he provides exactly what they need. Post defense, PnR defense, inside physical presence, an athletic finisher, a big screen setter, rebounding on both ends….who ISN’T Kendrick Perkins. Physically, Adams is ready to compete. Mentally, he’s much further along than even I expected.
