I know its a recycled topic, but i need to take a second to marvel at his alley pop from last night.

slows down, almost stops and flares out, sees the pass, takes one or two hard steps into the jump and takes off completely outside the lane, and throws it down. it all looks so effortless.

I caught the game last night and the thing about Wiggins is that his leaping, like you said, is effortless. What he can do off just a couple steps or from a stand still is that thing that seperates him from a lot of other guys. After these two exhibition games, I can’t say that I’ve seen anything close to what he’s capable of leaping wise.

One thing also special about his leaping is that he can plant his feet either way. Right then Left as well as Left then Right. If you look at guys right a lot of guys plant their feet just one way not both ways.

Vince Carter was the all time right-left leaper. I personally am a one foot jumper.

Vince definitely stepped into his jumper righ-left and got super high. Off the top of my head Jason richardson comes to mind as a left-right jumper that had crazy lift.

Wiggins is getting up at elite elevation at all three levels. r/l, l/r, and one foot. really excited for some in-game acrobatics this year.

Do you know if wiggins gets elite elevation off of his off leg(right leg) alone as well. Ala j.r. smith? I know he can jump well off of his left leg alone.

No problem with that. Most people can’t jump the same level off of either leg. It’s very rare. I’ve even seen some people jump higher from their off leg rather than their “on” leg I guess i would call it. Like For example J.R. smith is a right hander that jumps off his right leg most of the time. seems to jump higher off that leg instead of his left leg. Wiggins is so explosive though that I wouldn’t be surprised if he could jump well off of his off leg as well.

Id say a lot of those people are more natural off two foot takeoffs, and when they tranny to a 1 foot, the weird footing seems to be them compensating for the different footwork.

I’d like to see some footage of Wiggins exploding off of 1 foot. He’s almost exclusively a 2 foot jumper.

A few off his highlight tapes have him jumping off 1 foot. He doesn’t look as graceful though as when he gets off of two feet. Also one 1 foot jumping is quicker than 2 foot jumping obviously because your just putting 1 foot down then taking off. But Wiggins feet are so quick that his two foot take off is damn near as fast as most players one foot take off. He’s quick enough to basically always get two feet down if he feels like it. Kid is insanely gifted.

Pretty effortless. He took a guy off the dribble last night and flushed a two handler off one foot. He didn’t really sky, but he wasn’t trying to either. Kind of just looked like he was running and then his hands were all of a sudden above the rim.

His first bucket of last nights game he took someone going left, and took off 1 for a nice two hander. defender on his hip, and hands up at that square area. Like Joe said it seems more sneaky than off two and he definitely doesn’t have the hang time, but he’s definitely up there, Similar to Durant athletically when taking off one foot i’d say.

…is he a great basketball player. That is what I can’t wait to see. Dunks are great! Great “BASKETBALL PLAYERS” are more fun to watch (in my book).
