When I first read about this I wasn’t sure if he was joining the coaching staff or the squad itself…that usually isn’t a good sign.

Good signing. JO can still contribute on both ends in bursts. As long as he’s healthy he’s an above average back line defender.

Former all-star center Jermaine O’Neal has committed to sign a one year deal with Golden State via Espn. What do you guys think of the deal? I feel like he had a good bounce-back season last year with the Suns, so we’ll see what he can do with the Warriors.

Good pickup as long as Bogut can stay healthy, he would be great giving Bogut rest an providing frontcourt depth

Good veteran pick up. Need a guy like this on the team and at a 36mpg ratio he still essentially put up 16ppg 10rpg and close to 3bpg last year. So when he is out there he is still a solid producer. Warriors might be making some serious noise in the west next season.

  As someone on here said before per 36 minute stats are irrelevant for somebody who hasn’t played 36 minutes a night in 9 years. He will be a decent guy for 10-12 minutes off the bench who can hit a midrange jumpshot and occasionally block a shot but he won’t be a major factor unless Bogut and Ezeli both go down with injuries.
  Judging by his per 36 minute stats 34 year old Jermaine O’Neal is a better shot blocker than 23 to 27 year old Jermaine O’Neal who made the all-star game every one of those seasons.

    Per 36 minute stats are only useful to show the rate of production during the time that they played. Rate is the key word. If someone just lists rebound or block rates it wouldn’t mean much to anyone because nobody has a frame of reference for those type of stats.

    Actually 6 years ago he was 19.4ppg 9.6rpg and 2.6bpg in 35.6mpg. He can still play like 28-29 year old Jermaine O’Neal in spurts just not for 36mpg but his efficiency in all aspects of the game has stayed consistent despite reduced minutes and that is the point. Whether you are playing 18 minutes or 42 minutes a game you need to show efficient production and he still does for 20-24 minutes a game.

at 1st i thought golden state would still finish around the 6th spot. Especially, after dwight went to houston. Now o’neal gets the back up over Ezeli and pairs up with speights in the back up front court. With klay or barnes relegated to the bench via iggy i see them as maybe the 5th possibly 4th seed.

Honestly, I doubt JO will be able to stay healthy that much at his age. The huge signing for them in my opinion is Maurice Speights. As a Cavs fan this past season I got to see a lot of him and think he is a great bench player who is strong, good size, decent defender, and automatic from mid range. He might contribute more than Carl Landry since he can actually stop people sometimes on the other end and play center in short spurts.

It seems like a good deal at the time for OKC, getting the center they need, and we get Uncle Jeff to help guard LeBron. Makes sense…if Shaq and JO can stay healthy, that is. The reason Ainge traded for Green was because of his confidence in the health of both the O’Neil’s, and when Shaq went down with his injury, the entire season was riding on the health of Jermaine’s knees. Needless to say Ainge lost that gamble, and the Celtics lost the only advantage they had against the Heat; Size. The point of this recollection: if you’re a Warrior’s fan, you better hope Bogut stays healthy!

  Okay.. But the big difference with the celtics then and the warriors now is that we signed jermaine to be our 5th big man in the depth chart. We won’t be relying for him to provide consistent minutes at a daily basis.
