zolaParticipantUSA wins gold at U19 World Championships, defeating Serbia 82-68
I’m very proud how my national team played against big favorite, team USA. The game was tightd till beganing of last quarters. Then USA team utilized their quality and much deeper rotation forcing Serbian team to few turnovers which ended up as easy points and 15 points lead. The best in USA team was Montrezl Harrell and Elfrid Payton. Marcus Smart had a good role at begining of 4th quarters when USA made decisive lead. The best in Serbian team was Vasilije Micic with 13 points and 10 assists and Jovan Novak who scored 21 point (5 triples).
USA was very dominant at this tournament, beating all rivals with almost 40 points. Serbia was the only team who could play some serious basketball with them

mikeyvthedonParticipantGreat team, much closer than the final score. Glad to see the USA field a Gold Medal winning U19 team after coming up shot in 2011. Would have been truly amazing if Australia had Ben Simmons, Croatia had Mario Hezonja and Canada had Andrew Wiggins, though I think all of those guys are doing things to get better in the mean time. Most, if not all, could be playing with their Senior National Team this summer (I know Simmons is planning to play with the Boomers, Wiggins is still up in the air with Canadian Mens and not sure about Hezonja, just know it was probably in his best interest not to play at this level anymore).
I know the USA was missing a few big names, just very proud of the team that was fielded getting the job done. Everyone seemed to know their role, the defense was top notch and it was really an all-around team effort. Jahlil Okafor and Aaron Gordon both made All-Tournament, they were joined by Vasilije Micic, Dante Exum and Dario Saric. Aaron Gordon was awarded tournament MVP. Montrezl Harrell impressed me in what I saw of him, his wingspan and bounce should get him NBA looks. Also impressed by Okafor’s post game, he is really quick to get to his moves, great footwork. The leadership provided by Nigel Williams-Goss and of course Marcus Smart was huge, while the defensive versatility of Elfrid Payton/Justise Winslow was quite key.

zolaParticipantIt’s pity Wiggins, Simmons, Hezonja and few more Americans like Parker, Randle didn’t play on tournament, it would be the best tournament ever
Serbia has talented big men for European level, but they lack athleticism against college competition. We did a really poor job in protecting the rim. Also we played with just seven guys and your full court pressing crushed us in 4th quartes
Dario Saric deserved MVP award, he was amazing

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantDo people on here realize how good A. Gordon is gonna be? He and Harrell were the 2 most impressive prospects on the u.s. squad from an NBA standpoint, M. Smart aside.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantGordon needs to become more skilled though and find a position. Even without getting more skilled he still can be a Shawn Marion clone because right now he’s just motor and athletic ability. That’s going to limit his potential until he gets better handles and jumper (if he wants to be a SF) or some post moves ( if he’s going to be a PF)

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantThat will come with great developmental coaching because he clearly has the motor and mentality to get to whatever level he wants
