Tim49461ParticipantNow that Dwight Howard has moved on, what is the direction of the Lakers?
Everything must go?
Try one last year?
Honestly, It’s time to say thank you Kobe, Nash, Pau but you are free to go. This team can not compete with the west. The are at best hoping for the 8th seed with a team lead by Nash and Pau for the first half. They lost Clark (Who was putting up good numbers last year, loved his game in LA) and Dwight.
I personally need, want and pray they trade Kobe and let him have another chance at winning a title. To finish his career in another rebuilding era at the end of his career will ruin everything he has done.
What do you guys think? Try and trade to compete, trade everything away for the future or hold tight? They are bound to give L.A the #1 pick if they trade everyone away.
P.S
I hope Dwight has a career ending injury this season. This guy has ruined Nash’s only chance at getting a ring by being a baby for a whole year. Thank god his deal will be for 5 years. That’s 4 or 5 seasons of not hearing anyone reference the Dwightmare again.

HobbyOGParticipantTrade Kobe so he can win a title? Shut up! Kobe wants to win in LA he doesn’t want to join Forces and start over. They are the Lakers they will be ok. Next year might suck, but they will a ton of money in the next year and Prob a good lottery pick next year in a good draft

ItsRainingNegsParticipantLA would be a perfect place for Russell Westbrook but he’s not going anywhere. Kobe loves Rondo and I think he’d thrive in LA but Ainge wants to keep him. They don’t have the assets to acquire Lamarcus Aldridge so what other options do they have? Josh Smith would be a terrible move on their part. They went all in on Dwight, lost every other option which is hardly blameable, and came up empty. I think they should just sign a bunch of cheap, one year athletes that will fit in D’Antoni’s offense and see if it still works. If not can him, get a top player next year in the 14 draft and go all in free agency next year. It’s crazy how bad they could be next year. At least Pau will show how good he still is next season and then flip him at the deadline for a ransom.

TomShoeParticipant(THIS IS ALL ASSUMING THE ROCKETS GET DWIGHT. IT HASNT BEEN CONFIRMED YET.)
“I hope Dwight has a career ending injury this season.” Kinda harsh there, dude.
What they should do is try and get some kind of sign and trade going with the Rockets. In my opinion, for Dwight, I think the Lakers could get Lin, Asik, and some filler in exchange. While that doesn’t seem like much, keep in mind that Lin became the guy he was today in the D’Antoni system. Asik is also a great rim-protector that will ease the burden of defense.
Pau will appreciate being able to have the low block to run his low post game again, and Lin, while still not a great defender, will be an upgrade (defensively) over Nash. After that, they’ll probably need to sign at least another competent defender, probably a wing of some sort who will come over on the cheap. Ronnie Brewer comes to mind, but I don’t think anyone will like that.
Jeremy Lin and Kobe on one team. The fun that’s going to be LakerLand next season…

HobbyOGParticipantLakers don’t want Lin because he has too many years left on his contract. I live in Atlanta, rumor going around josh smith might do a sign and trade to the rockets for asik and Lin and some draft picks..

Ghost01ParticipantThe clouded bias stupidity of Laker fan makes me laugh.
Ruined Nash’s last chance at a title? What chance? Last year, Kobe was GREAT and they barely made the playoffs. This year, he’s going to miss significant time. Nash is old. He is washed up, and he is boarderline finished. He probably will struggle to stay on the floor again this year. The Lakers need to realize its time to rebuild. Bottom line.

Tim49461ParticipantThe fire sale wont happen until the trade deadline at best. But no way Kobe stays. Joining forces? He doesnt care about LA. He tried to jump ship in 06 and win and he will try again if he has to. He will not play out his career in a rebuilding mode.
I say run everything thru Pau get his numbers up. Trade him and take the best offer you get. Kobe will ask for a trade during the off season and go from there. They cant pry Rondo away from Boston without giving up Pau and if you dont have Pau you dont have anyone.
My concern is who is going to want to team up with a Old Kobe and no one else. They would have to land two high profile free agents. And we have seen how that worked out for the Mavs.

benjo34Kobe is the icon of the Lakers, the would never trade him no matter what happens. I’m a Lakers fan,the will probbably end up with something to give Kobe a chance to win the tittle. Lakers in the next couple of seasons will probbably do a thing that they did almost allways, they will reload. Maybe get some young player on the Draft like they did with Bynum and try to get him one superstar. Lakers are tha Lakers, they’re allways contender

Sewok15ParticipantMost Lakers fans also cannot string together a coherent sentence as you can see by this example.
I like the comma usage, but maybe you should become a Heat fan?
