    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9450752/tyreke-evans-headed-new-orleans-pelicans-three-team-trade-according-sources

The deal is Evans goes to New Orleans
    Greivis goes to Sacramento
Robin Lopez goes to Portland and Portland gives up cash and future draft considerations.

I think this is a deal that helps all 3 teams esspecially Sacramento.

Sacto did well in recouping losing Evans. While Vasquez will never be an all star at the point, he’s good enough to start for now. He will do great getting McLemore open looks, and hopefully keep Cousins happy.

I think NOLA Is gonna regret giving up both of them for Evans though; Lopez was a good piece, as was Vasquez. Now their depth isn’t great. We’ll see who they sign for depth.

Also hearing Jeff Whitney to pelicans, who basically will be a Robin Lopez type player atleast. Also Reke said he is willing to play sixth man which should help depth in the backcourt atleast.

this trade was pretty much assumed to go through all day, just wasn’t official till now. Vasquez will be good in Sac as they have small PG’s so him and McLemore would be a good backcourt.

Not sure why Portland would want Lopez. He probably isn’t any better than Leonard.

Vasquez will probably be the most popular person on the team. So many guys that want the ball and they finally have someone that can and wants to pass.

who does nola have inside other than Davis and anderson now? Expect a lot of Davis injuries if he plays center this year.

Yeah NOLA needs some more bigs. All they have is Jason Smith and I’m not sure if Amundson is still on the team or not.

The Kings really need to go all in for Iguodala and/or Millsap now. It’s sad that they may have already ruined their opportunity in getting Iguodala, they have the chance to be a serious team.

In general good moves for all teams involved but I think the Pelicans gave away a little bit much. According to hoopshype the gave away Vasquez and Lopez for a player they could have gotten anyway. Biggest winner here the Kings. Get Vasquez, two future 2nd rounders and cash from Portland for a player who they didn’t want to hold. I think NO needs more moves now with this thin frontcourt. Do they still have enough cap space to land Millsapp or a backup like maybe Tyrus Thomas who was just reased by the Bobcats? Kind of confusing that a former Bobcat may join a team called the the Hornets who are going to be renamed to the Pelicans and his old team will be called the Hornets…

Agreed. He is a RFA – the kings were not going to match it so why did the Pelicans have to give up two players when they were 99% sure they were going to get tyreke anyway ?

If anything I thought Eric Gordon might be traded – he doesn’t really like it there and is an injury risk…

I just read at espn that the Blazers send Withey to NO and now I really love this trade for the Pelicans! Withey should have no trouble playing 20+ mins game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him starting a good amount of games if/when Davis or Anderson will miss a game.

I like this deal for all teams involved. As others have said, Sacramento is getting the pass first PG that they have needed for years. Mclemore should be psyched that they acquired Vasquez. NO did give up a fair bit for Evans, but they should be pretty fun to watch this year with Holiday, Gordon, Evans, Davis, Anderson. They’re gonna need to average at least 110 ppg to be competitive though! I can see them picking up a defensive minded centre pretty soon. I don’t mind this for Portland too. They replaced Hickson with a taller, stronger player on a decent contract for some 2nd rounders and cash. They needed an extra big as Leonard isn’t ready for starter minutes just yet.

This trade makes a whole lot of sense.

So I guess the roster will look like this
    PG- Jrue/Evans/Rivers
    SG- Gordon/Evans/Rivers
    SF- Darius Miller/Lance Thomas
    PF- Anderson/Smith
    C- Davis/Withey

Id like their chances to make some noise for a playoff spot if they can sign a solid SF and a center to move davis to the 4. Bright future!! 🙂

withey still in portland. portland gave up two (future) second round picks. Still that is worse for the pelicans leaving them with no center. Mozgov, mareese speights, and dalembert are free agents they are probally going to have to look into. Might even have to overpay Mozgov and speights at a crazy price considering they will be big commodities and their both a couple years away from 30.

Out of those 3 FA’s I think Mozgov or dalambert would be ideal. Speights is way too small to play centre next to davis. I think Mozgov would do well. He has usually done the job when given minutes, but slipped behind Koufos in the rotation and then they got McGee. The nuggets probably had one of the better 3 centre rotations in the league.

agreed on everything mozgov does deserves a chance to start, and movgoz did suffer from to many quality bigs on the same roster they all were very talented.

Aren’t done dealing either, Gordan is on the way out for something, most likely some big depth. They need a starting center because Anderson is best suited to be their 6th man and Davis a PF. Who knows whats going to happen.

Good recoup by the Kings in getting something for Evans and it frees up the NOP backcourt by moving Vasquez. Evans perhaps needed a change of scene and he could be a nice fit at NOP, his deal is about market value I’d say. Withey is also a good pick up for NOP.

Vasquez gives Sacramento a ball distributor to feed DMC, McLemore and co.

Portland get an experienced C which allows them to watch the minutes of Aldridge in particular.

I like the deal for Pelicans and Kings but what is the Portland GM doing lately?

You drafted a PG last year in Lillard, and then you draft another PG this year…

You drafted a C last year in Leonard, then another this year in Whithey, and now you trade Whithey for Robin Lopez??? Im confused…

The CJ draft was all about getting the best player available, and although he may seem redundant to lillard, I have no qualms with that approach in the draft. Leonard showed promise in his rookie year, but still seems pretty raw. Not forcing him as the starting center when he’s not yet ready helps his development if you ask me. I want him to start when he’s at least matured physically to take the pounding against opposing NBA bigs. Getting lopez now at least gives them a serviceable center to start until Mayers is ready.

New Orleans had to make the trade because Sacramento was not going to risk the option of letting go Evans without anything in return. The Kings played their hand and now instead of having Vazquez as an asset to acquire a SF they have a glaring hole at SF and C. Since sliding Anthony Davis the top priority he will get PF minutes so the cap they do have will be spent on Pekovic or Hickson leaving Brewer the likely option at SF and Austin Rivers as trade bait.

    Holiday/Evans/Rivers
    Gordon/Evans/Rivers
    Brewer/Miller
    Davis/Anderson
    Pekovic/Smith

That’s a playoff 10 man rotation if they can trade Rivers for a SF that can contribute and if Gordon stays healthy.
