I want to know more information about this guy. His wingspan is great and he showed a great rebound ability. Why he wasn’t drafted? Is he fully recovered from his injury? I really want the Bulls to take a look on this guy. He could be a good adition to the roster. Greetings from Uruguay.

He’s a bruiser undersized PF with really good strength and athletic ability. I think he’ll probably find his wayto a roster spot by opening day.

Negatives: Overaged, I think he is 25 already. He has had a couple of brushes with the law, although, in my opinion, they were relatively minor and not in the last two years. No real offensive game beyond 8 feet from the basket. Only about a 50 percent free throw shooter. Undersized (heightwise) for the PF position. Two years removed from a serious knee injury.

Positives: Big motor, long arms, huge hands, good hops, enjoys defense, good shotblocker, likes to mix it up and put the wood to opponents. If he gets 8 minutes and never touches the ball on offense he will still be happy.

Summary: I could see Mbawke stick with a team that needs someone to come off the bench and play PF (cannot play anywhere else). He won’t score unless you give it to him at the doorstep, or more likely, he takes it off the boards. I think he will blend well and play hard the entire time he is on the court. I thought he would go in the 40’s to early 50’s, and that it was a mistake that he wasn’t taken.

Strengths: Strong, athletic big man who makes an impact on both ends … Huge wingspan (7’4”) and tremendous leaping ability allow him to overpower bigger defenders in the post … Great explosiveness on offense … Excellent offensive and defensive rebounder … Gets numerous second-chance opportunities with his athleticism and offensive rebounding, leading to easy put-backs… An excellent alley-oop target, Mbakwe is always a threat to make momentum-changing, highlight-reel dunks … Solid shot blocker thanks to his athleticism and wingspan … Avoided fouling out his entire senior year … Good at slipping inside and getting good position for easy dunks … As a sixth-year senior, Mbakwe is one of the most experienced players in the draft…Career 57% shooter … Big Ten rebounding leader as a junior and senior … Named second-team All-Big Ten by media as a senior …

Weaknesses: At 24 years old, Mbakwe is one of the oldest players in the draft, which limits his potential…Very uncomfortable shooting jumpers, and his range doesn’t expand beyond 8-10 feet … After an ACL tear seven games into the 2011-1012 season, Mbakwe lost a step when he returned: his PPG dropped 3.9 and his RPG dropped 1.8 from his junior to senior year … Raw offensively, he has few well-developed post moves and relies mainly on his athleticism to get baskets … A bit undersized for a big man … Has a tendency to disappear, as he took 5 or fewer shots in 14 games his senior year … His health causes some concerns after multiple knee surgeries and problems … Has had multiple run-ins with the law (accused of assault in 2009, violated restraining order in 2011, suspended for DUI in 2012)…

Overall: Mbakwe is an explosive, high-energy player who can turn offensive rebounds into put-backs and alter shots and rebound defensively, but his age, health, and legal trouble will likely drop him to the mid second round area …

Notes: Transferred from Marquette after his freshman year … Played at Miami-Dade JUCO his sophomore year… Sixth-year senior missed most of 2011-2012 due to ACL tear … Measured 6’8.5 (in shoes) 237 lbs, with a 7’4 wingspan at the 2011 Amare Stoudemire Skills Academy.

He probably didnt get drafted because he is already 25 and ive heard hes only 6’6 without shoes on. Not to mention the injuries hes had to deal with.

with everything everyone said he is a beast regardless, and you need hustling monsters on the court for you. faried, jj hickson, asiek, and evans for the nets play the same way he does. I think that deserves a contract. Give him a backup spot ahead of someone a team drafted in the 1st round last year or the year before that who only receives play time because they were drafted in the first round. At 6’8 or taller that is the size of a lot of power forward these days. With his offense coming from so close to the basket it seems you would label him an undersized center instead of pf. Either way come to the mavs we need rebounding.

Not really, he’s too small to play center ( backup C still being a team need ) and not a very good outside shooter. Drafting a bigger guy with floor spreading ability like Murphy was a better pick and I think better indicates the type of 4 they were looking to add to the end of the bench. i doubt Trevor could crack the everyday lineup of Chicago.

I’m a big Bulls fan too. At this point, I don’t know which free agent rookies would be meaningful pickups for them because of the caliber of team they are. That being said, they still have a big hole at backup center and I think bringing in a guy like Jack Cooley, who at 6’10” with a long winspan and great rebounding insticts could maybe be a guy who has a shot to make the roster as a 4/5 combo. I haven’t heard much yet about the Bulls’ summer league roster aside from Luke Harangody ( not gonna make the team ) and Charles Boozer ( just a favor to Carlos, Charles isn’t NBA material ) but a guy like Cooley or Zeke Marshall out of Akron could be guys that have a shot.

He is like jeff adrian both are hard worker/hustle guys, strong, undersized, and have no jumper. He is a solid 5th or sixth bigman to have for the minimum salary.

Interesting enough the Sixers got Trevor and Rodney Williams on there Summer league team but only Williams got a contract. I think Mbwawe will turn into a Jason Maxiell type of low post bruiser. Hes freakishly long and strong and plays wit a beast eats man mentallity.

I know teams are gonna hate playing the Sixers in the Summer League wit Mbwawe and Kazemi playing like there lives are on the line.
