So Ginobli resigns with San Antonio for 2 years and gets $14,000,000 in return. After his terrible finals performance (with the exception of 1 game), I figured Ginobli would have retired or resigned for much, much less.
At this point they’ll be lucky for him to play in more than 50% of the regular season games, and after the playoffs they must know he’s a huge liability.
So with Splitter getting paid, and now Ginobli….. Is San Antonio loyal to a fault?

Wilson Chandler is a decent starting SG who is paid $5.9 million a year.
Ginobili is a bench scorer with decreased abilities, I’d say he’s worth a little more than half of what Chandler makes. So he should be paid roughly $3-4 million a year.
$7 is simply overpaying. No way around that fact.

I’m happy Ginobili is returning, but not at the expense of an extra $7m. But oh contrar, Timmy only asked for a 3yr/$9m deal for the team. This is simply selfish on Ginobili’s part. Including the deal the Spurs made with Tiago, I’m questioning our offseason moves a bit.

  He may be, but I think his main initiative was to keep the same team that took the Heat to 7 games in the Finals intact. I assume he was willing to do that at the expense of more money. I wonder what kind of deal Gary Neal is receiving.
