He seems to be an excellent fit there with his defence, leadership and intangibles. Excellent for the Kings but selfishly I wanna see Iguodala on a contender as he is the ultimate 3rd option, defensive stopper guy. Might be too much money to pass up though.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski, The Kings are frontrunners for Andre Iguodala after offering a 4-year and $56 million dollar contract. If this happens, their worst starting position last year suddenly becomes their best. It also likely signals a sign-and-trade situation with Tyreke Evans which may net a piece like Greivis Vasquez.

This new ownership is not a thing like the last. The organization’s culture is certainly changing.

Why leave the Nuggets (who are near contenders), for a team that isn’t a playoff team even (well maybe close with AI)?

Well he would be in the perfect situation for starters. He would be the perfect glue for the inside-outside combo of McLemore and Cousins, and would be creating plays for them while getting his own. They are young, offering him an insane amount of cash (too much to be honest), and will most likely be good sooner rather than later. All they really need to compete is a competent point guard, and for one of their PF to take their game to another level and they will be set.

I hope so as a pelicans fan if they sign Iguodala they can’t afford to match Tyreke Evans contract since rumors are that they are considering matching

I think I speak most Kings fans when I say we’ve wanted Iggy for some time now. If we lose Evans and add Iggy at the SF spot it works better if we get a pass first PG off a sign and trade. Also I heard the Kings met with Jose Calderon today. That could also be a decent signing.

I actually think this means that they are looking to keep Tyreke as well since theit GM stated he would like a sf who can distribute well if they pair Tyreke with Bmac.

Matching an offer for him would still be possible since salary cap does not matter with bird rights.

But regardless of if they keep Tyreke I think that seeing Iggy in a Kings jersey next year would be awesome.

I guess the Kings have been so bad for the last 7 years they will be happy with the mediocrity that Iggy will help bring for the next 4 years. He would be a great fit with a contending team but it doesn’t make sense to sign him 14 million per season. The Sixers tried him as their focal point and they found out he isn’t a franchise player. I know Sacramento is trying to be relevant again but this isn’t the move they should make. He will give you elite perimeter defense but he still will only give you 15 5 and 5 in the long run and isn’t that what they were getting from Tyreke who is 6 years younger?

Neither of them can shoot consistently and Iggy is a better defender while Tyreke is better offensively. This is a headscracther to me if this deal goes through. Overpaying for role players seems to be the trend that free agency in the NBA has been taking for quite some time but it seems to be getting ridiculous this summer.

And NOW, Sam Amick is reporting that this offer to Iguodala has been pulled. More to come.

I much rather have the kings match tyrekes deal and sign a couple of more affordable sfs like ak-47 and dorrell wright…..they’re gunna have to break the bank for cousins next year so I think they’re keeping that in mind

I don’t think the Kings are messing around. That offer screamed “commit to us now.” If you’re going to walk away from that to test the market, then they’ll let you go.

On one hand it seems odd to want a guy bad enough to pay that salary, but not bad enough to wait for him. However, they know they have to overpay to compete for the more desirable free agents. They will overpay but not sit around and wait or allow indecision to affect their plan. I have to respect that.

Apparently the Kings are trying to keep Tyreke. And the reason why they pulled that deal is because the Nuggets were going to more than likely match. So the Kings bailed.

Kings wanted answer that Iguodala wasn’t ready to give, so they pulled out and moved on. They’ll regroup & decide on Tyreke Evans etc.
