The Toronto Raptors have joined the Orlando Magic at the head of the list of known suitors for Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe, according to sources close to the process. ESPN.com

The Raptors have been openly shopping forward Andrea Bargnani for months and would try, sources say, to include Bargnani in any deal for Bledsoe, which wouldn’t necessarily dissuade the Clippers, given their longstanding need for a big man who can stretch the floor. But sources add that Toronto guard DeMar DeRozan is the Raptor most likely to tempt the Clippers, which falls in line with L.A.’s interest in Arron Afflalo in their Bledsoe talks with Orlando. ESPN.com

Some rival executives believe that the Raptors are prepared to part with DeRozan — recipient of a $40 million contract extension last October — in the wake of Rudy Gay’s arrival and the front-office change that ushered out Bryan Colangelo (who authorized DeRozan’s new deal) and ushered in Masai Ujiri. ESPN.com

Here is a trade idea that I think can work out:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=px5nsq5

What do you guys think about the trade for both sides? What offers would you consider that could happen? Is it a good trade for Toronto or LA Clippers?

If in clippers, I would rather Ross and his shooting ata rookie salary. But Orlando is a much better partner with Afflalo and either Harrington or Nicholson who ate both stretch fours.

I agree with KHAM83. The Clippers will need a SG and Afflalo is a better fit for what Doc Rivers’ system. Plus getting a young PF in Nicholson to play behind Griffin, that would be amazing to see.

Clips don’t want Bargs and should rather have Afflalo over DeRozan. I also don’t think I’d be comfortable with DeRozan back home.

Derozan would be horrible in LA, he is the type of player they already have, someone with no basketball skill and can only dunk and is super athletic. Afflalo would be the perfect fit for LA, a crafty defender who is a good shooter.

Clippers have to realize they aren’t going to win a title with all these unskilled players like Griffin and Jordan. Adding Derozan to that team would only make it worse. Afflalo is the exact type of person they need.

I live in Los Angeles so I see almost all the Clippers and Lakers games. Yes, they might not win it all with Jordan is their center because he has a low basketball IQ and is terrible offensively, but don’t say Griffin is unskilled just cause all you see on sports center is his top dunks. He has I high IQ for the game, has some post moves better than Dwight Howard. He is getting better overall at shooting and with Doc Rivers I believe he will improve his defense. There are so many Blake Griffin, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howards haters on this board. Haters always going to hate.

I just don’t see the Clippers taking the contract of Bargini. The most logical trade in my opinion is
Bledsoe, Jordan and protected 1st round pick for Jonas Valancuis, Demar Derozan and Amir Johnson

    Clippers roster
    Chris Paul/ Chauncey Billups
    Demar Derozan/ Jamal Crawford
    Caron Butler/ Reggie Bullock
    Blake Griffin/ Lamar Odom
    Jonas V/ Amir Johnson

    Raptors roster
    Kyle Lowry/ Eric Bledsoe
    Terrance Ross/Landy Fields
    Rudy Gay/ Alan Anderson
    Andrea Bargini/ Quincy Acy
    Deandre Jordan/ Aaron Gray

By the way, the raptors roster looks a lot similar to the nuggets roster? they just need a Faried type player, Masia Ujri i see what your trying to do!

You think that the raptors would trade a potential all star centre down the road, in Jonas for a back up pg and a starting centre who literally all he can do is dunk and block some shots. Deandre has no shooting ability and his iq and work ethic are questionable. The clippers made a terrible decision trading away their pick in ’15 for a friggin coach that didn’t even want to be in Boston anymore. That ’15 draft is going to be stacked and the clippers window is closing. The clips are a serious injury away to Paul or griffin from finding themselves in the lottery.

Same with the Nets, and i doubt even a russian billionaire will be happy when the repeat tax offender penalties kick in in 2014-15 and he already has 77 mill tied up in williams, johnson, lopez, and kg.

Danny Ainge has done very well this summer.

The Blake being unskilled argument is a very weak one and comes only from people that don’t watch the games. How does an unskilled power forward have multiple triple doubles in his career?

Blake is definitely skilled with a great post game now. But he’s far from a complete player. Thats the main criticism that he deserves. His lack of a mid range shot and poor defensive play have hurt his team.

Why the hell would be give up derozan for bledsoe. Kyle Lowry is better than Bledsoe in just about every facet of the game. All this Bledsoe mania never made any sense to me. He is a fine backup PG, and that’s it. Let’s look at some advanced stats to compare the two.

    WS/48
    Lowry .133
    Bledsoe .115

    TS%
    Lowry .543
    Bledsoe .513

    eFG%
    Lowry .482
    Bledsoe .473

    Ast%
    Lowry 34.6%
    Bledsoe 23.5%

    Ortg
    Lowry 110
    Bledsoe 102

    TRB%
    Lowry 9.5%
    Bledsoe 8.6%

    Drtg
    Lowry 106
    Bledsoe 101

    PER
    Lowry 17.5
    Bledsoe 17.3

    Per 36 Ast/TO ratio
    Lowry 2.79
    Bledsoe 1.69

Literally the only category that Bledsoe is better than Lowry in is Drtg by a small but appreciable margin. Everything else Lowry trumps him, and he trumps him by a lot in the stats that really matter for PG’s (Ast%, Ast/TO ratio). Not to mention this was a poor shooting year for Lowry, yet he still easily outperformed Bledsoe. Also, Bledsoe is also signed for just one more year, so we’d have to resign him to a similar amount we’d have to pay Lowry, so it really is a straight up comparison.

So, please remind me again why we would want Bledsoe over Lowry in the first place?

Toronto owes over 38 million to the Gay-Derozen-bargniani trio next year. What a mess. They need to ship at least Gay and Bargniani out for late first round picks to a contender willing to take on salary. What about the expiring deals of Gasol and World Peace plus a first round lakers pick for Bargniani and Gay.
And if I was the raptors on this deal I might just buy out gasol and artest. Just bottom out and rebuild through the draft starting next year.
