What 2nd rounders from this draft do you think have the potential to play meaningful minutes as rookies?

Im gonna go with a few guys:

    1) Ray McCallum – If Tyreke and Marcus Thornton are on the way out, there could be a decent amount of minutes available to Mccallum. He has NBA quickness and skills and I think he can give SAC some decent minutes if they decide to move some players, which I think they will.

    2) Nate Wolters – BOLD prediction here, but I believe he will be starting over (or maybe with) MCW by christmas. He is more NBA ready than MCW and theres plenty of minutes available in the Philly backcourt now with Jrue gone.

    3) Erik Murphy – I will admit there is just as good a chance that he doesn’t even make the team. That said, he is a phenomenal shooter and CHI is going to need a stretch 4 to open up lanes for a healthy D-Rose. The bulls already have bangers on the front line, now they need some shooting and finesse to compliment it. Matt Bonner 2.0?

He may play a lot, though.

Wolters was traded to the Bucks after he was traded to the Sixers. Still, he should have a chance to earn minutes there, especially in Brandon Jennings leaves. I do agree that he could be a steal.

Edit: A couple people beat me to the gun, I guess. Oops.

I could see Erick Green giving a scoring 6th man impact off the bench for Utah

    Burke – Green
    Burks – Green
    Hayward – Williams
    Favors – Evans
    Kanter – Gobert

I think Dallas might have picked one of the higher ceiling guy in the draft with the 43rd pick. He might not contribute right away in 2013 but i do believe he will put his mark on the league at some point.

I was praying Memphis would select Ledo…But im happy with Franklin,he’s also going to be a sleeper….Some of these guys in the 2nd round will be better then some 1st rounders…I really like Wolters, i think Wolters and Schoeder will be the best pgs from this draft…..

I see Pierre Jackson being a high energy guy and scorer of the bench for the pelicans who traded for him

Both of those guys can guard 2’s so Pierre can play with them and guard opposing PGs. Plus I don’t think Vasquez is in their long term plans after trading for Holiday. I think he will become Nate Robinson 2.0…but he is a more than willing passer.

I think Deshaun Thomas can actually get some pt on the Spurs with his ability to score. He seems like he could set up shot in the corner and knock down shots.

Canaan was also a great pick for Houston. I think he could be starting over Lin or Beverly by seasons end.

The Lakers bench is so thin I think Ryan Kelly can give them some good minutes as a stretch 4 as well. He knows how to defend coming from Duke and we all know he has been known to get hot.

Ricky Ledo – Will get a good 10-20 min off the bench. Good scorer and a underrated passer, if he could play defense he could get more minutes.
Nate Wolters- Could play the two due to his size and shooting. A great passer with a high basketball IQ. he could get a solid 15-20 minutes.
Lorenzo Brown – Great Size and pure point who can play 10-15 min and give Ricky Rubio a brief rest or can play along side of Rubio due to both being 6’5. If he can be consistent with his jumpshot, it will be hard for him to not get minutes.
Glen Rice Jr – He can play the backup 2-3. Could shoot and has a good all around game. If he can play defense he can play a good 10-18 minutes a game.

I was really hoping Nate Wolters would be picked up by OKC so I’m a huge fan of his.

Also, DeShaun Thomas was a steal by the Spurs. You know Popovich will be able to use him

As a fellow OKC guy, what do you think about Roberson? I honestly had no idea OKC was targeting him. I have read a lot today about him being an excellent rebounder for his position and that he is that 3/4 energy hybrid that OKC really hasn’t had. Looks very athletic and from his you tube videos, it looks like he loves the “show and go” move. Probably logs heavy minutes in the D league this season, but I’m wondering if this will be one of those picks that we look back on later and think that Presti worked his magic again?

I honestly don’t know anything about Roberson, but I know that we needed a backup for Durant and if he can hold his own on an NBA court then I can’t complain. I felt like we desperately needed more scoring after watching the Memphis series but I think I’ll feel better about not picking up a scorer when Westbrook comes back
