CameronCrazy11ParticipantThey’re thinking future. Just imagine if they can get Andrew Wiggins next year. And even if they don’t get him, there a ton of very good players that they can get too.

OhCanada-ParticipantApparently Nerlens Noel is being traded to Philly for Jrue Holiday! No concrete links to prove the report just something I heard. Anybody else hear this any thoughts?
If this is true Philly is insane.

Sewok15ParticipantThey traded Jrue Holiday for two lottery picks….one was Noel and one will be in the 8-14 range next season. The SIxers gave up the 42nd pick as well which New Orleans took Pierre Jackson with (I really like that pick he will be an awesome 6th man).
This is the SIxers new management totally starting over. They traded their best player for a rookie who won’t play til Christmas and will take some time to fully develop. They drafted a PG in MCW who has a lot of potential but isn’t ready yet either. This means they will be very bad next season and will be in the running for Wiggins…if not they should at least get a consolation prize of Randle or Parker.
In my mind this was a brilliant and ballsy move to get out of mediocrity. They will rebuild faster this way then they will attempting to sign mid level free agents and fight for the 8th seed as they have been doing since about 2001.

OhCanada-ParticipantWell they have my vote for worst team in the NBA next year.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe 2014 pick from NO is protected. I think top five protected.

Sewok15ParticipantTop 3 protected was the report that I heard.

OhCanada-ParticipantMaybe Im just overrating Holiday and underrating Noel and a unprotected 1st round pick although I have an extremely strong feeling that Jrue tears it up with NOLA. Holiday and Davis on that pick and role gives me cringes.

Wavy BagelsParticipantHoliday and Davis on the pick and Pop is much more terrifying for opposing teams. Davis’ mid-range jumper is underrated.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 5:53pm #807777

IndianaBasketballParticipantAnthony Davis shot less than 30% from mid-range…
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 6:04pm #807801

Sewok15ParticipantHe is a 75% foul shooter with a good stroke though so you have to assume he will only get better from mid-range as he gets more comfortable in the NBA.

Sewok15ParticipantJrue has shown to be great in flashes but he lacks the consistency you want in your top player. With Davis as the face of the franchise Jrue will be a great side kick. He can score and set up his teammates. He will work hard and can defend both guard spots. He is a 23 year old all star but I still think he is somewhat overrated. He had a rough second half of the season and although he was an all star he was barely a top 15 PG by seasons end in my rankings (and I am a Sixers fan).
I think both teams win in this deal actually. New Orleans already has their young franchise player in Davis so they were looking to add a more proven commodity next to him. The Sixers knew Holiday wasn’t going to take them where they want to be single handedly and decided to move him and pretty much call the 2014 season a wash. I like the way this new ownership in Philly isn’t afraid to shake things up. If you are gonna be bad at least be bold…

laarethekingsParticipantThe pick from NO is top 5 protected. But with Davis in his second year and not hurt. Jrue running the point. Rivers coming off the bench. And cap space. What makes everyone think the pick the 6ers will get next year will be any good?
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 6:24pm #807840

CameronCrazy11ParticipantWell won’t they still have their own pick? I imagine that will be pretty high. So possibly two lottery picks in a loaded draft.

Sewok15ParticipantWhat makes you think that Rivers coming off the bench will help them? He had one of the worst rookie seasons in the last 20 years. It will be a pick in the 8-14 range which can still get you a decent player.
The Sixers pick however should be in the top 5 for sure. Thad Young is the only proven player they have on their roster at this point.

TMoney617ParticipantWhat happens to Greivis Vasquez? Do they keep as a sixth man or do they look to trade him? I think the Pacers could be a good fit since they need someone who can distribute the ball.

SublimeParticipantAnd couldn’t really work out the value of someone like Vasquez. As a Hornets fan i really can’t work it out. Had a good year last year as one of the most improved players in the league, would he be worth say a pacers first round pick next year? It projects to be perhaps a later first round pick. Would that be too much, too little or right around the mark?

HaleParticipantHate this trade unless the pick really pans out next year. Nerlens Noel is a guy I really don’t see what the hype is about at all, just like Austin Rivers last year.

Sewok15ParticipantI think it is his defensive versatility and elite rim protection he will provide. He isn’t much offensively but he certainly is no Austin Rivers….

theballerwayParticipantfor Vasquez but they could play togeter in spots. I think The Pelicansd might have got away one here. I guess we can assume they wont be signing Bynum. Imagine if the Lakers got him back assuming Howard goes to houston or Dallas or wherever. Ironic . not sure it could work financially tho

RafterParticipantStunned. Noel even slipped (medical red flag?) but the 6ers were willing to trade a 23-year-old allstar point guard who has a good four contract in favour of the potential of a 218lb center who will be wearing the same uniform as Andrew Bynum also with a protected pick thrown into the mix. The Hornets are laughing right now. Gung-ho stuff from Philly, there’s no turning back now.
