lestweforget23ParticipantWhat are the Celtics going to do tonight? I keep hearing KG and Pierce are on their way out, and I commend Ainge for doing so, allowing them one more shot at a title elsewhere. They HAVE to keep Rondo, but I’m a big proponent of sitting guys with ACL injuries. I don’t recall Rondo’s being all that bad, but I’d still like to see him sit a LARGE portion of the season, especially if they are going to go all in with rebuilding. That being said, the C’s do have some interesting young talent, and aren’t as far away (in the east at least) as some people may think. Take a look at their remaining young talent
Brandon Bass, Avery Bradley, Jordan Crawford, Jeff Green, Courtney Lee, Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo & Terrence Williams are all young talented guys that bring something to the table. (some more then others)
The C’s have the 16th pick, and really have the ability to go in with the mindset “pick the best available talent”. I have heard that Ainge is not impressed with this draft, but I doubt KG/Pierce will be “impressed” if their still on the roster in the next few weeks. What do you all think some of the C’s best options are? Do they trade into another draft pick or two? Do they send out KG/PP for draft picks over the next couple of years? Who do they draft at 16? Who the hell is going to coach this team?

anunnParticipantDeal KG & PP to Brooklyn for future 1sts, Draft a project like Giannis or Adams at 16, DO NOT sign & trade for Josh Smith. They need to rebuild & pray for lotto luck next yr
Wouldn’t be surprised to see them trade for a late 1st of early 2nd to draft a pg like Pressey though

Professor RozayParticipantAlong with those picks they also get a 1st round pick from the Clippers as well so that is a good look…

lestweforget23ParticipantAgreed with Josh Smith AND the project, don’t necessarily like Giannis, but Adams would be a big win if he falls that far. Why pick pick up Josh Smith when Jeff Green is basically a poor mans josh smith?

jhbm24Participanti think they should be smart and suck, draft Gainis so he can sit for a year, get a decent pick in next years lottery by sitting rondo for 2/3rds of the year. trade both KG and Peirce for picks next year or whoever has the sweetest pot. i know ill get negged because a lot of people will say ” the celtics are too good to suck” but if you really look at their team they have no big impact players besides rondo and jeff green, so if rondo sits, you let green develop his confidence and being able to handle offensive loads, and they wont win with jeff green being the best player so they can and should suck. thats my rebuild of the Cs

Meditated StatesParticipantIt does not work. Depending on ping pong balls is dumb. Grab the 1st round picks if they can. Especially for next year. Its deep and they can play hard all year and still get a good prospect. This is a fun time to me I like to see teams adjust and retool. Always good to develop talent and wheel and deal. Should be a good draft.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantthe nets deal imo is a great deal for the celts humphries is off the books after next season yea wallace is over paid but getting the needed picks too start rebuilding is huge i know thelly be people saying well that loads up the nets next year but from bostons perspective they arent gonna compete anyways and the deal only really helps the nets for one season unless they re up pierce

Sewok15ParticipantI just read from Chad Fords rumblings that the Celtics are going to try to get a late 1st or early 2nd and they are targeting Phil Pressey. He seems pretty much like a smaller Rondo to me so it makes me think they could be looking to move Rondo as well as the older guys.
I think Pressey is one of the many underrated guards with a second round grade in this draft. If Boston makes this happen I would think they are looking at a total rebuilding effort and will have a great shot at a high lottery selection in 2014.

aramboneParticipanti am very hesitant to tank. Olynyk would be my choice, and they can still get a low lottery pick while keeping dignity and kg mentality.
Bradley and Lee played great together before Lee got hurt. They are very close friends with Jeff Green. Sullinger plays very hard, and Reggie Evans brings a tough presence as well. Gotta keep that hard working spirit and Celtic pride. Pick 13 might not be much worse than pick 7 next year, so don’t tank.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 12:36pm #807619

Meditated StatesParticipantAlways. Not high on Pressey either over Rondo. Not the same IQ or vision IMO. I can think of other guys I like if you want to replace Rondo. I like Larkin over Pressey.

lestweforget23ParticipantNow that Doc is out of the picture, I don’t see why they can’t hire a guy that can work with Rondo. His ACL worries me, but it wasn’t as severe as some in the past…i still say play it safe and sit him as long as you can, possibly the whole season…if they’re going to tank, then they should do it WHILE protecting Rondo’s knee!
