I heard all the chatter about Waiters last year and did not buy the hype that his stock had risen that high. But in fact the Cavs were that high on him. So you have to listen to all of the rumors this time of year. You just don’t have to believe it all.

Just the other day there were rumors of Luol Deng possibly being traded for the number 1 or the number 3 pick this year. Now supposedly the Bulls and Deng are discussing a contract extension.

I find it’s best to block those people out, and just be your own evaluator. Sometimes we as fans forget that the NBA is a business first, and basketball second. It’s not always about skill and improvement for these analysts, but more so on who and how they can market players. Does anyone remember when journalists were complaining about Greg Oden, and how it was impossible to market him? They even came out with a commercial mocking it. Like a above poster said, follow your heart; because at the end of the day we’re the true fans who are evaluating the talent of these guys. These rumors are just the NBA’s version of our bs 2k trade scenarios, except their bullsh*t makes it on the front page of ESPN

I’ve decided this year to go with my gut and ignore rumors, I also made a few last minute changes last year and got burned as a result. Another thing is the rumor of trades, there’s always sooooo many rumors of trades before the draft, and 99% of them never happen, in fact there isn’t usually many trades during the draft at all. So I’m not basing my mock on whether the pick might be traded or not, would be crazy to try and do that.
