lolyouthParticipantClick here to view my Mock Draft with comments.
A couple of notes about my Mock Draft:
My picks are based on who teams SHOULD pick with the FUTURE in mind (mostly), NOT who I think they WILL pick.
So having stated that, my Mock will be different from a lot of other’s mocks. There are so many Mocks out there guessing who teams WILL pick. I wanted to make mine off of who they SHOULD pick since that is different, and a lot of people just repeat what other people say or do instead of digesting information, thinking it through themselves, and then making their OWN decision instead of regurgitating someone else’s.
I know most people will think a lot of my picks are a reach, but my mock draft is a mock based on future and potential, not IMMEDIATE impact.
Yes, I have some people rated low compared to most other peoples. Get over it.
I’m sure quite a few of my picks will get me negged out the yin-yang, but I have to speak the truth. My mock won’t get any recognition at first, but when I re-post this in 5 years, you will see a lot of dead-on predicitons.
Almost every year, there is someone who the “experts” have picked in the late first round or early second, who winds up becoming a great starter or all-star IE: (Kenneth Faried, Paul George, Josh Howard, Carlos Boozer, Gilbert Arenas, George Hill, Tony Parker).I know everyone else may have certain people rated higher, but I am pointing out the gems, even if they take a little time to develop, or are overnight starters.
It’s a weak draft. In drafts in general, but ESPECIALLY in WEAK drafts, take potential/talent/upside over need. In a weak draft…. take chances.
Also, some picks were just the “BPA” – Best Player available at that spot.
Don’t care what other people say about some of the out-of-nowhere picks, I just wanted to identify the kid’s who could flat out play.
Enjoy, or Neg,…… but please process other peoples information for yourself and then make an educated decision for yourself, instead of just spitting back what other people say just because it’s the majority.

CavFanPRParticipantSince you want us to rate your mock I’ll go ahead and say it’s horrible.

B-ball fanParticipantI like the idea of making a mock draft of who teams should take. I don’t agree with all of it, but I do appreciate the effort to not just copy everyone else. I do agree that Reggie Bullock and Gorgui Dieng are getting underrated. The biggest surprise was Jamaal Franklin ending up so low.

ryanhoward42ParticipantYeah that was pretty awful. Teams aren’t going to be that stupid come draft night. Obviously your opinion is your opinion, but some facts are known about this draft. Mainly, Bullock will not go #9 (not even close) and oladipo will not drop past 5.

lolyouthParticipantObviously you didn’t read where I said “This is where they SHOULD go, not where they will go”. I am just not as high on certain players like you all are.
Last year I wanted Andre Drummond and Harrison Barnes rated higher, like 2 and 3, but they dropped to 7 and like 10. So I picked them higher than that….. and they have and will be the better overall players in the future and now.

Anton123ParticipantIt just isn’t really good, all the “See Ryan Kelly above” is kind of annoying and many picks are just unrealistic.
Also Plumlee isn’t a scoring big in my mind.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/26/2013 - 4:07am #805859

FutureNBAGMParticipantOladipo isn’t falling to #10, and I honestly don’t see how Muhammed would help the Bobcats. If they need scoring, they should look for a scoring center like maybe Len or Zeller at #4.

esperanzafleet69Participantyou have some players who might not get drafted in the first round.

RafterParticipantProps for being bold.
From what I gathered this is more of a retrospective look as you’ve got a lot of “top” guys slipping in favour for guys who are considered inferior (Bullock over Dipo among others) which is fine but it’s technically not a mock. I’m not mad about this at all though in fact I like this type of spin since it’s a highly unpredictable draft.

lolyouthParticipantYou are almost the only responder who understood what I was trying to do. It is more of a retrospective look, and I do have a lot of “top” guys slipping in favor of who I think will be a surprise or long-term better overall player.
Everyone else:
People did not think Tony Parker (late first round), Manu Ginobili (2nd round), even Kawhi Leonard (15th pick) were gonna do as well as they have done.
Again I was simply picking who I think will be a better long-term pick. So again I say check back in 5 years (I can repost), and you will see people I selected high (that I don’t think will ACTUALLY get picked that high), will be great players/picks.

jacobkeyParticipantAgain lolyouth is not saying this WILL happen only that it SHOULD happen. Obviously, I don’t think Bullock will go #9 or Oladipo #10 but I appreciate you taking a different approach and putting effort into it.

DolanCareParticipantI appreciate anyone who makes mocks that are based on opinion and not what they’ve heard may happen. But after reviewing your mock I’m not sure if you’re properly gauging talent levels. KCP led an awful Georgia team to a number of upsets. Games that they had no business winning. Every game he would be swarmed with SEC defenses as he was the only real option.
As a Knick fan I would love KCP, but he’s a top 10, won’t be there at 24.

phila9012Participantas a timberwolves fan this is the worst mock draft ever, you tried to be funny with them taking 3 point guards when they already have a bunch on their roster and are looking to trade one or 2 of them. Kahn isnt here any more that wont happen again. No way they pass on KCP at 9 he is the perfect fit for them and they like him a lot. If they want Reggie Bullock they could get him at 26. He doesnt have more potential than KCP. I get what you were doing but I still think a lot of the projections for the future are wrong too.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantI have to call you on your bias… Richard Howell at 38 …. CJ Leslie at 22 … Lorenzo Brown at 17 … Reggie Bullock at 9… I don’t understand.. are players from North Carolina and North Carolina State automatically better?
