jaysmith1987ParticipantThe Paul George hype machine is out of control. People are saying they would take him over Melo and he is catching up with Durant. Pump the breaks people. This guy averaged 17 ppg on 41 percent shooting. People are blinded by the talent on the team. The pacers are built like the 2001 blazers with Scottie pippen. They have 5guys in the starting lineup who could be all stars at anytime. Paul George seems like he will be a really good player maybe borderline great but Melo and Durant are in a class right behind Lebron. He’s gotta be more efficient before you can convince me he’s better than melo or catching up with Durant. Durant averaged 28 in the most efficient fashion possible. Fact is Paul George is nice just don’t put him in an elite class to soon.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI agree that he isn’t as good as Melo or Durant but if you don’t believe he’ll be as good as Melo in two years, you’ve got another thing coming.
Fact is, he has improved so much each season in different aspects of the game. He’s already a better defender than both Carmelo and Durant and he showed what he can do (in flashes) in the playoffs.
Sure, I don’t believe he should have been an All-Star this season because of his horrible efficiency but once he starts shooting 45-48% consistently, watch out.

Hi its BenParticipantI still feel Paul George is behind Melo and KD but I think you’re putting too much stock into his offensive game and that’s a mistake. Paul George is far ahead of both Melo and KD right now on the defensive side of the ball and with his potential on offense, that’s why the hype is where it’s at. He should continue to improve on that end as well as playing amazing defense. Don’t put so much emphasis on offense when you evaluate talent, there’s two sides of the floor.

DolanCareParticipantMelo is the better player right now, but George is a much more complete player who will eclipse Melo sooner rather than later.
George actually defended Lebron. Melo couldn’t guard Juwan Howard.
And I don’t want to hear how Melo has gotten better on the defensive end. He tried a little bit more this past season. But he would take plays off when the calls weren’t going his way. You can never say that about Paul George.

IndianaBasketballParticipantBased on the improvement Paul George has shown from season to season, it wouldn’t be a shock if he surpassed Carmelo Anthony by next season.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe improvement he showed this season was unbelievable. Better rebounding, ball handling, passing and an improved mid-range game. More aggressiveness.

mcbaileyParticipantMelo is only better because he can score in bunches. George is better–actually MUCH better–at literally everything else, but the point of the game is to get buckets.
That said, I agree with those who are saying that he’ll eclipse Melo sooner rather than later.
