tdo1996ParticipantWhat do you see the Nets doing with their pick? Ive thought about a few prospects that they may take at 22 if available, but for each one theres a reason why they would NOT take that player.
Mason Plumlee- First off, I am a Duke fan so I would hate to see Plumlee slide this far as hes projected lottery but i can just see it happening given his age compared to other players and team needs before here. Anyways, PF is arguably the Nets worst position with Evans, Humphries, and Teletovic so an obvious upgrade could be used there. Now the reason that looms in my head for why NOT a PF is because of how good Reggie Evans has done for them this year. Evans has made up for the poor rebounding from Brook Lopez all season long and if he is pushed back to the bench role, he may not be as valuable to them as he is starting. Now if Plumlee is off the boards here, I would not see them taking a PF since the next best would be CJ Leslie who just would not fit in well there.
Jeff Withey- Defensive Center. Exactly what the Nets lack in Lopez. When Withey is on the floor, Lopez would be moved to PF and could be a great frontcourt for them. This is what goes through my mind as the Nets most realistic option for the draft, but you never know what goes on in NBA front offices. Maybe they dont want to have Lopez playing PF more. They could look at Withey as a reach at 22.
Giannis Adetekoubo- I think this guy is a real sleeper. All ive heard about him is good, good, good. Projected as a NBA SF, he would be a bit of a project this year and next, but as Gerald Wallace continues to decline (no matter how hard that man plays) Adetekoubo could step in and fill the void there for Brooklyn. Wallace also has a very high contract for his production and the Nets might end up wanting to get rid of him down the road. To me, this is the Nets best option by far, but I just dont believe Giannis will still be available at 22
I want to know what other people think about the Nets selection. What do you think about these options. Good? Bad? And who do you think they’ll take. This is the first spot in my mock where I get stumped and have to decide who to put there between multiple players.

arowsky205ParticipantTheir biggest need is a wing who can come off the bench and space the floor. I think Allen Crabbe would be a great fit. If he’s gone, then they should reach a little bit and take Reggie Bullock. They can afford to reach because they really don’t have any other big holes to fill. Blatche is a UFA, but he has said he wants to stay in Brooklyn and will sign a cheap contract since he’s still getting paid by the Wizards. If Watson opts out, then Tyshawn Taylor can take a bigger role next year. What the Nets really missed this season was shooting off the bench.

arowsky205ParticipantForgot about Karasev since I actually think he should go in the mid teens. Their top options should be, in this order, Karasev, Crabbe, and Bullock.

chris_wuzhereParticipantWatching them in the playoffs they needed help from their bench. CJ Watson gave them good minutes but the backup wings were pretty bad. I’d expect them to look at someone like Jamal Franklin as a do everything wing or Allen Crabbe as 3pt specialist. Also wouldnt be surprised if they take Karasev from Russia. He’s 6’7″ and shot 49% from 3 this season in the Europe.

jjbutler73ParticipantThey have a decent rotation and Bojan Bogdanovic is coming over next year. They can trade the pick for a PF vet or future picks.

Chilbert arenasParticipantThey need someone who can step in from day one and contribute. Crabbe, Franklin, Bullock, or even James Ennis would fit the bill .
No way would they ever play Withey and Lopez at the same time, the other team would run them out of the gym.

TallmanNYCParticipantThey will probably trade pick to make room for a veteran. If Bojan Bog is coming over, then they need to make room for him. Toko might get playing time next year under a new coach. Toko dominated the D-League over 10 or so games. He probably is a legit NBA player with a few months of development.
They either need to play and develop Marshon Brooks, or they need another wing. Being stuck playing a hurt Joe Johnson for 38 minutes a night in the playoffs killed the Nets.
I know Blatche said he will take less money, but I expect him to get some very nice offers. Also other teams might offer him a starting spot, which he won’t get from the Nets. He will be a big loss if he goes.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI’m not against Ledo but they already took a shot on Marshon Brooks and that hasn’t worked the way I at least thought it would have. I think they need someone who’s a little more proven than Ledo.
