unofficialscoutParticipantI want to know who people think the ULTIMATE sleeper in the draft is? By ultimate sleeper, I mean a player picked in the latter half of the second round or undrafted who could develop into a starter (i.e. Ramon Sessions) or a valuable rotation player (i.e. Morrow from Golden State). My ultimate sleeper is PG Cedric Jackson from Cleveland St. He was a late 2nd Rd. pick on the websites Mock Draft about a month ago. I saw him play in his conference chanpionship and the tournament He has good size (6’2 – 6’3 w/ long arms). He is quick and explosive (saw him have a few dunks) and he has improved his 3pt shot (still a work in progress). Last season he averaged about 11 ppg 5.5 apg 5 rpg and a whopping 3 spg. I think if he works hard on his decision making and shot selection he has the ability to be a Rondo like PG. Tell me what you guys think about this sleeper pick and who your ultimate sleeper is?

fliptonnParticipantbeaubois reminds me of rondo a lot. he didnt get much exposure going into the draft but he seems to be very athletic and from what ive read he’s tearing up the eurocamps. many scouts are overlooking him because its such a PG heavy draft tho. on the same note, dont count tyrese rice out. Diaper Dandy lol

ricks17ParticipantYah I know hes not going to be a late 2nd rounder, he’ll go somewhere between early to mid 2nd round. But I think hes going to be a solid nba player for a long time and if you get any kind of contributor at all in the middle of the 2nd round than its obviously a steal of a pick.

unofficialscoutParticipantBy the way I didnt see any info about Cedric Jackson at the combine. I didnt see any measurements or workout information. Does anyone know if he attended or was even invited?

tac_bluesI think the sleeper of this draft is Robert Dozier. He’s a bit of a tweener but the guy can play in my opinion. He’s athletic, can shoot and play the 3 and 4. He will probably go in the late 2nd, but i think he could turn into a 6th man or a starter.

gatorheelsParticipantI am going to go with Leo Lyons and Milan Macvan. Everytime I watched Lyons play I came away impressed with his skills around the basket. Even though he isn’t super athletic he has a unique ability to get his shot off around the rim. Lyons is a very crafty player. He is a big reason why Missouri made it to the elite 8 this year. Macvan really impressed me also when I saw him play. Even though he is a bit short he offers unique skills that most PFs don’t have. He has an excellent midrange shot, good passer, smart player, works hard, I think he eventually makes an impact in the league.

gatorheelsParticipantCasspi is pulling out of the draft?
unofficialscout- I haven’t seen enough of Cedric to give a good opinion. I saw Cleveland St. play a few times this year and he didn’t really stand out. I don’t think he will be drafted. However, he could get on a summer league team and make a roster.

The MantisParticipantHarangody will make a roster if he stays in. The guy averaged 20/10 in the best conference in college basketball. Someone will give him a chance and be happy they did. Not saying he’s gonna be a star, but he should eventually become a contributing role player.
Somebody mentioned Lyons out of Missouri, which is a pretty good choice. I like his teammate, DeMarre Carroll, as a sleeper pick even more. Someone mentioned Danny Green, too. He should be a decent player in the NBA….good defender, 3 pt. shooter and a great FT shooter.
Out of the small school guys, I like Lester Hudson and Ben Woodside.
One deep sleeper that I don’t see anyone talking much about is Aaron Jackson out of Duquesne. Slim to no chance that he gets drafted, but watch out for him in summer league.

kotyParticipantGarret Siller is my ultimate sleeper. He is 7′ , 300+ lbs guy who seems to be talented (how else was he invited to the predraft camps/tryouts?) I can see him turning into a solid starting center

CorningKingsFan31Participantplays both ends of the floor hard, has great footwork, and great post skills

Knicksboy34ParticipantI wanna give you my USA and Euro steals…
Edwin Jackson (France)- He could be a solid 6th man, think Courtney Lee. He could shoot. Since, he’s a euro guy expect him to go to San Antoino.
Austin Daye (Usa, Gonzaga)- Im Telling you this: IMO, for a guy who may go between 13-30, if he gives you Tim Thomas like numbers, it is a huge steal.

unofficialscoutParticipantGatorheels- I am impressed by your knowledge. I havent even heard of Milan Macvan. What country is he from? Is his game similar to Scola’s?
Birdman – I agree with you about Danny Green – he is very overlooked in this draft, I think he is a sleeper but I dont have him as an ultimate sleeper because I think most people agree he is going to have a very solid NBA career which is why I dont know he is not being considered in the late 1st or early 2nd, he may end up being better than Gerald Henderson from Duke.
Knickboy – Edwin Jackson Interesting? is he originaly from the US?
TAC_blues – I dont think Dozier has the strength to compete at the 4 or the ballhandling or consistent outside shot to compete at the 3 he reminds me of a skinier Jared Jeffries

Knicksboy34ParticipantNo, Edwin Jackson is from France. I saw a couple highlights, he looks pretty good to me. He has that Courtney Lee and Allan Houston like game…But, last i saw of him he was very raw…he in my 2nd round mock.
Also, Victor Claver….he reminds me of Hedo and somewhat of like a Caron Butler.

gatorheelsParticipantMacvan is from Serbia I believe. He is a high IQ player that has very good shot selection which equates to a high FG%. Check out these videos. I found them pretty interesting to watch. The first one is purely Macvan highlights. The second video shows Macvan, as well as Edwin Jackson, John Walll, Xavier Henry etc…

maravich44ParticipantOut of guys drafted that late, I agree on Green. Harangody is another possibility. I thought he would return to Notre Dame though. Speaking of returning, I think Dar Tucker will return to DePaul, but think he could be a decent pro and certainly will not be drafted in the first round if at all.

auberParticipantTo me it’s Lester Hudson, but I hardly think you can call him a sleeper on this site.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 2:58pm #162441
j1232eParticipantdoes any body else think this, nba teams drafting not ready fresh, soph, jun.. in the secound round sending them overseas for a year or two until they develope them retaining their rights and signing them to a two-three year contract. I really believe this is the next big thing for the unready draft prospect. If they dont develope you lose nothing if they develope you are considered a genious.

maravich44ParticipantIt is a great strategy if there is no one on the board who can provide immediate help for your team.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 3:01pm #162444

JJ7ParticipantGive Lester Hudson a chance and he will be a very good player and he is very mature and at least a ready to go role player. Joe Ingles and Danny Green could be good to
