SiggyParticipantI think his dad being the coach had a lot to do with him returning. It’s the same reason why I expect Ray McCallum to return as well.

Anton123ParticipantThe expectations for him are HUGE, I think people will be kinda dissapointed if he doesn’t average like 25&9.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI don’t get why he’s returning…for what reason? How much better can he get? What does he really have to show scouts???
Freshman Year: 14.9 PPG 7.2 RPG, 74% FT(3 attempts per) 40% 3pt( 3.0 attempts per) 52% FG(10 attempts per)
Sophomore Year: 22.9 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 79% FT(4 attempts per) 48% 3pt(3.2 attempts per) 60% FG(14.0 attempts per)
Junior Year: 23.2 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 87% FT(6 attempts per) 49% 3pt(4 attempts per) 54% FG(14.2 attempts per)
The guy has gotten better each year from shooting a higher 3pt percentage on MORE attempts, to shooting a higher free throw percentage on MORE attempts, shooting 55.3 % from the field for his entire career so far and averaging 7.7 RPG for his career and winning all three years at Creighton.
Yea he may be a NPOY of the year candidate but far as his draft stock is it going to get better, in a deeper class???
I say he should leave this year and fight his way onto a roster, he can play the game he’ll be fine, I just don’t see his stock getting any higher, he’s proven everything he has had to prove.

benny15Participanti agree with what you said, but at this point, i think its pretty much clear its not about improving his stock. they can utilise him as a 3 more than a 4 so to show that he can play that position full time in the NBA, but i think thats a fringe benefit.
this decision is more about accomplishing something in the college level. something that not everybody has a chance on doing. and the fact that you only have such a limited number of years to play at this level, could drive you to try and make the most of it. its not like the NBA will be going anywhere or he’s a first round lock in this year’s draft.

KingoftheOceanCourtParticipantFurthermore, if he ends up a late first-rounder in next year’s draft, that could have him going to an established team like the Spurs — a team with a more established roster and structure. So on top of all the reasons you listed, he could end up in a better spot career development-wise next season.

Mad MaxParticipantmaybe he loves college and playing at Creighton and wants to complete his degree?

JoeWolf1He needs to work on his handle to become a true NBA 3 man. He’s a little post oriented, and although an excellent shot with great IQ to space the floor for his teammates, I do think a year if he focuses on his handle, could actually do him some good. I feel he’s one of those guys who’s stock is going to be about the same next year too, and if he can become a better ball handler he could maybe sneak into the 18-22 range.

FastAndFuriousParticipantMaybe, but if that was the case, he wouldn’t have waited so late to announce he’s returning, his goal is to get to the NBA and if he was a lottery pick, he wouldn’t be going back…….

festar35ParticipantI never havea problem with guys staying 4 years and getting their education finished. The world of pro basketball can be harsh and having that education can really help.

RafterParticipantNPOY candidate for sure. I suppose he’s just trying to add to his legend at Creighton and feels like he has unfinished business after the Duke game, he did say that it was a “tough” decision I assume his dad has a plan good enough to convince this return. This announcement continues to make next season even more exciting when you consider the caliber of the players that’ll be running around in that jungle.
