he recently plays more and better with much more consistency and heart… in spain a very competitive league.

he could be a late riser in the mock draft and earn a spot in the 20’s as adekotoubo should do (even higher for the greek prospect).

Thanks JunkYardDog, thats good to know. We’ve all known his name for about two years, but last I knew he was very raw, long and unathletic. Im pretty NBA and NCAA heavy when it comes to watching ball so any input would be awesome. In what areas has his game improved?

more focused on the court, mature off the court and maybe less influenced by all the buzz he got very early (too early), less dumb mistakes and bad fouls (so more PT), better defensive awareness… still very limited on O (only dunks and put backs, almost no post game) especially on half court.

he still got his wingspan and agility, and he improved his upper body strength (still some work to be effective in the nba) since last year.

I’m still very sceptical on his will to be competitive and passion for the game. He seems to be onterested in playing in the nba but after that ?… it’s not a goal it’s only a step. I think Gobert and adams have better mental tools to keep progressing and developping their game after the draft. More desire for both of them and more professional habits (especially for Gobert).

19 december 2012 : he played very well against gran canaria (jon scheyer, xavier rey, uros slokar, brad newley…) in a win. Played something like 20 minutes and scores 6 pts with 4 reb (with important offensive reb) and was very dominant in D in the paint. An example of what he could do.

He originally declared for the 2011 NBA Draft then pulled out at the last minute due to contract issues. He even participated in the 2011 Draft Combine. Didn’t come out last year because he wasn’t even getting minutes for a bad team. To be honest there’s not a whole lot I can say about this since I don’t have access to watch Euro League games other than highlights of those players on YouTube. From what I’ve seen he is a big man who can jump maybe become a Samuel Dalembert at best but like I said I haven’t seen him play enough to judge him.

He’s been around the mocks for the last few years moving about quite a look, he looks a high upside/high risk guy maybe if he doesn’t convince a team fully, he’d be an ideal late 1st round early 2nd round stasher. If he looks good in scouts minds and workouts then he might just crack the lottery IMO.

I think he arrives 10 years too late… in the beginning of the 2000’s he would have been top 5 cause nba teams were looking for the next euro big thing (nikoloz, darko, artem zabelin, kosta perovic, podkolzin… all got some buzz). Now nba GM are more aware and more skilled to evaluate international prospects.

Nogeira could be drafted in this weak and short draft but will be left in europe. Reminds me of Petro… same laziness and mental weekness red flags, same lack of playing time and bball IQ or feel for the game.
The best thing for him would be to keep getting some PT in the ACB during 3 years before going to the NBA… and get a bigger contract !

You get a plus one for Artem Zabelin JYD, I had him on my mocks for about 4 years but he was never drafted. I think that when Dirk became a success all teams looked for the next big Euro thing. Of course Bargnani has perhaps the most hyped Euro Big in recent years and went at the top of the draft.

I agree with JYD that Nogueira should look to remain in the ACB for a few more years to develop his game and bulk out a bit, that would put him in later first round early 2nd round territory. The Thunder or Cavs could be the sort of teams to look at him in this light perhaps.
