75 days out to draft day so I made my first mock. Tell me what you think.

Bonus Question:
What do you all think about Sherwood Brown as a draft prospect? He burst onto the scene in the tourney, but he hasn’t really been talked about since. I think he could make it off the bench. It’s not everyday a player leads a small time school like FGCU to tourney wins over Georgetown and San Diego St.

It’s a good mock! Some surprising picks like McDermott going 15, Crabbe falling to the second round, and Ledo going first round. I like how you have comments for every pick, that’s cool that I’m not the only one on this site that does that lol. FGCU’s Tourney run definitely put Brown on some teams’ radar, I could see some team taking a flyer on him in the late second round where you have him, and sending him to the D League to develop his game. Could be one of the undrafted players we are talking about making an impact on a team next season.

  I didn’t see McAdoo returned, but it’s definitely a good decision for him. He’d go late first or early second at best and he has the potential to go much higher.

With the way GMs think, I think you got Plumlee low. After the combine his stock will sky rocket. I see him going to OKC where all he has to do is rebound protect the rim and catch lobs perfect fit for him. Seth Curry or Ryan Kelly not being drafted?? Shooters have value in the 2nd round!!! You must not like Duke players!!!!

  I had Ryan Kelly in but then bumped him out last minute. We’ll have to wait and see if teams show interest in him after pre-draft workouts. But there are a lot of 2nd rounders in my mock that I think won’t get drafted, simply because I only have one international player in the 2nd round, and there’s bound to be more than that.

    I agree with you not having Ryan Kelly drafted. The unfortunate part of the drafting process is that those who play well but don’t excel greatly in one aspect of the game fall through the cracks in the system; think Matt Howard of Butler’s two final four teams. While Kelly was an absoulte integral part of Duke’s Elite Eight appearance this season, Kelly wasn’t the one slamming home any alley-oops or making a tough contested three with the shot clock winding down. He played well, and helped Duke succeed, but since you didn’t hear the name “Ryan Kelly” an average of three times a day on ESPN, he may go undrafted; granted, it wouldn’t be the end of the world for him. Kevin Jones of West Virginia (who averaged close to 20 ppg and 8 rpg his senior season) went undrafted this past season, but was quickly picked up by the Cleveland Cavaliers, spent plenty of time gaining experience in the D-League, and even made a few NBA game appearances throughout the season.
    Once again, all based off of what NBA GM’s think, but if he’s not getting that much respect prior to the NBA Combine, I don’t know if he’ll be receiving much more after it.

Not bad at all man, i too can appreciate the added comments, but i think MCW at 10 to OKC is unlikely, considering its probably their deepest position in terms of youth/talent between Westbrook/Jackson. Neither are considered ‘true PGs’ but i think its pretty clear OKC doesn’t have the same opinion, and are running with the athletic freaks at that position for the conceivable future. I think if they are taking a guard, it would more likely be Oladipo, he can be added to their defensive minded starting unit if Thabo Sefolosha leaves after 2013-14 or if Lamb doesn’t pan out. They can use their later 29/31st picks for a project PG…

  Well OKC needs a big man more than a guard obviously, but Noel, Len, and Zeller are already off the board so OKC could either go for McGary, Olynyk, or Adams with their first pick if they want a big, or they could go after MCW or Oladipo first. I think MCW or Oladipo would both be better fits than the other three. Later on they could maybe grab Gobert, Withey, Nogueira, Dieng, or a few other bigs that could be around for pick #28.

For OKC, I like MCW as a creator at the point guard spot. MCW and Westbrook would be a nice backcourt.
Love Oladipo too as a slasher and defender. Not a big threat from deep but they have Kevin Martin to bring off the bench.
Sometimes I think OKC is Durant VERSUS Westbrook instead of Durant AND Westbrook. They need a third guy to replace Harden.
If they want a shot blocker and a legit center, then OKC can reach a bit on Jeff Withey. He’s a fluid, athletic big man and it would be a block party with him and Ibaka. Then they could try and move Kendrick Perkins.

I like the mock. But I honestly feel the Spurs won’t pass on Nogueira. As great as Duncan has been this year, they need an eventual replacement.

  Nogueira is raw so him going to San Antonio could be a great fit as the Spurs are great at developing young players and I’m sure Tim Duncan and David Robinson could help his development.

What if OKC traded what is currently projected to be pick #10 and pick #31 to Atlanta for picks #18 and #20. This way Atlanta can grab a higher rated player in the lottery while OKC would get more depth with picks #18, #20, and #28. I think it could work out well for both sides.

  that would ease the pressure of picking in 10th, with the 18th pick they could grab withey to in time replace perkins, but they have been drafting big man that are not panning out in OKC anyways, look at aldrich, BJ mullens, And the Swift, i hope drafting a big this time would break there slump

    Yes, I think at this point i would rather see Presti consolidate picks with one of the teams holding 2 mid first rounders… Jazz or Atlanta, but I can’t say I am a fan of drafting Withey…
    OKCs big man drafting history is bad, Sene, Swift and Petro in Seattle and Mullens/Aldrich in OKC (and Presti’s two biggest busts)… leaving Serge as the only success story..
    If they were drafting 15/21 or 18/20 wouldn’t Gorgui Dieng be a better fit? He has great NBA size at 6’11” 245 with a monster 7’6″ wingspan, somewhere around Larry Sanders size? His passing is great, and has the ability to step out and knock down a jumper. Keep in mind OKC DOES NOT need an immediate impact player, they showed that with picking up Lamb/PJ3… Dieng is a real sleeper pick in this draft to me

      I am from overseas, so i am not 100% on this, but from my understanding, Sanders was the star of a (then) mid major program, whereas Dieng obviously just defensively anchored a team to a national title? I’m guessing that would mean Dieng faced alot tougher competition then Sanders did?
      I would appreciate anybody else’s take on this comparison…

        I forgot that Utah had two picks they could potentially deal with OKC as well.
        And those Dieng/Sanders stats are close, so I think Dieng could definitely shoot up draft boards, especially since Dieng played a harder schedule.
