jhbm24ParticipantOkay so I was just arguing with a friend, like always, and I had an idea, what if the Thunder trade their pick for Gortat? Is he the inside presence that they need to take advantage of the Heat? The Suns could use a top 10 pick even if its in a “weak” draft. What do you guys think?

IknoBall12ParticipantBut I really kind of want to see the thunder get michal carter Williams. Idk why but I feel like him running point every now and then with KD and Russell playing off the ball would be deadly. Buy the gortat idea is a really good one

TRC1991ParticipantTheres a 0% chance OKC takes carter-williams…they just took reggie jackson to be their backup PG 2 years ago…They need a center who isn’t entirely worthless… I love that trade idea for OKC

Evan_MilbergParticipantTo me, the Suns don’t pull the trigger on dealing Gortat to ANYONE (let alone a contender like OKC) unless they can get equal value in return. I’m sorry, but if I’m the GM of the Suns, it’s gonna take a lot more than OKC’s top 10 pick in a weak draft to deal Gortat.
Here’s how I’d adjust it:
Suns get:
C Kendrick Perkins
SG Thabo Sefolosha (maybe a lower player like Lamb or PJ3 if Thunder dont’ want to lose Thabo)
Top 10 pickThunder get:
Marcin Gortat
future second rounderOr something like that. Not just Gortat for the pick straight up.

220ParticipantIts important to remember the Suns are cheap. They traded players they drafted like Luol Deng, Rajon Rondo, and Rudy Fernandez for little in return. I think Rondo and Fernandez were dealt for cash. The Suns also traded Kurt Thomas along with at least one first round pick which became Serge Ibaka for a second round pick to save money. The point is the Suns will likely want cheap players in return for Gortat and certainly not Perk or Thabo Sefolosha. I doubt Presti would give up the lottery pick and Lamb for Gortat.

jhbm24ParticipantI don’t see them wanting to take anyone in this draft because they are in win now mode. And Gortats contract isn’t outrageous so I can see them not worrying about the money so much.

but there is not really many great fits for them, Zeller seems to be decent as well, maybe Olynyk

220ParticipantTrading their pick for Marcin Gortat could really pay off for the Thunder since they don’t really have any low post scoring except when Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook post up. Serge Ibaka looks like he could be a beast on the block, but he mainly shoots long jump shots. The only way I see them not making a deal like this is if Sam Presti is enamored with someone in the draft or if he doesn’t want to take a large contract on.

but I feel like OKC sees him as the gem of the harden trade. They were in talks with Phoenix during the deadline, but backed off because they didn’t want to give up there inexpensive high potential players, Lamb and Jones, and decided they would be better off letting Perkins eventually expiring and having cap for future.
Len, Zeller, and Olynyk give them a few shots at a decent post scores with there early pick.

mrhancocParticipantas long as Westbrook continues to take the most shots it really don’t matter who they draft or trade for its not going to be nearly enough to beat the Heat in a series….I mean just look at who’s on that heat team. If any of those guys out side of Lebron and Wade get hott its ova! Anyways if Im OKC I would not trade for Gortat it wold be a waste, so I would do my scouting to see if I could find anyone that has a real possibility of becoming a really good player and it wouldn’t matter at what position……I would have said somebody just like James Harden but they’ve been there before and it didn’t work out enough

r377ParticipantGortat is still a quality centre – a late lotto pick in this weak draft may not be enough.
J Lamb for Gortat straight up would be fair. Lamb would excel in the right system – I would of loved to have him go to Wash, Charlotte or Cleve and see what numbers he would of put up…

TyroberParticipantEven though the 8th or whatever pick it will be for Gortat doesn’t seem like enough Phoenix should jump all over that. They should have a goal of being the worst team next year so they might get lucky enough to land a franchise changer in 2014. They don’t have any building blocks for the future.
