HaleParticipantSo let us get back to the way things were and talk about some topics relevant to the NBA Draft. I would like to know some things about James Johnson. I really don’t know muc about him except that he seems like a 3/4 tweener, but has plenty of athleticism and upside. Will someone please inform me on this guy?

auberParticipantTo me off his body type he reminds me a lot of Ryan Gomes. I think He’s too big for a 3 and too small for a 4. He’s 6’7 257.

gatorheelsParticipantFor a big guy he can actually shoot pretty well from the outside. Also even though he weighs a lot he seems light on his feet and can handle the ball pretty well. I think he can play the 3. I also think he can play the 4 due to his muscle even though he is a little short. Overall he offers some skills that big men his size normally don’t. The main problem with him from what GMs & scouts are saying is that he may have a bad head on his shoulders. I don’t know any specifics but something must be up with his attitude. Apparently he wasn’t well liked at Wake Forest. I personally think he is worthy of a top 20 pick. You take James Johnson off that Wake Forest team and they would’ve sucked. He doesn’t have the length that Earl Clark does but James Johnson will be much more effective offensively at the nba level.

auberParticipantI like Clark more than I like Johnson. I think Clark is an NBA 4 and Johnson is an NBA 3.

tli232This guy looks like he can do everything Gomes can do right now. Has more range on his jumper coming into the draft though. Also, he’s bigger (6’7 ” w/o shoes, makes him a legit 6’8″) He also tested much better athletically by posting a 5 or 6 inch difference on his leaping ability. From games I’ve seen Johnson play, he seems every bit as tough as Gomes. To me, there’s no reason for Johnson not to be a more skilled and more athletic version of Ryan Gomes.
