Bulls got screwed by the refs!

Refs don’t decide games, missed opportunities do. The referees calls just got burned in your head.

And since your a bulls fan, would you be making this post if it was the other way around and the nuggets got “screwed”?

Watching the replay, what Noah did was really a goaltend. A ball being swatted away while it’s on a downwards trajectory is also considered goaltending. It was on its way down and it was still higher than the height of the rim. However, I do agree that Koufus’ follow-up was a terribly missed call. It was clearly goaltending without even needing to watch the replay. Referees normally miss/wrongly call a lot of plays throught a game and they normally just cancel out. It just so happened that these plays you’re complaining about happened in the last few seconds of a very tight game and that’s why they’re magnified. The refs should do a better job indeed, but again, they can never perfectly call every single game.

Who maintained (as opposed to “thought, expected”) a couple of days ago that the Nuggets would lose in Chicago, because they are average on the road?

Thibs was irate! Screamed “That’s F’d up” and a few MF’rs several times right at Ken Mauer and the refs. They didn’t T him up cause they knew they were wrong. The main thing is, why review the Noah play at the request of Carl, and not the Koufos play when Thibs was asking for a review, and players on the floor, the bench, and the entire stadium were going nuts. The ball Noah tipped was the same thing as an alley-oop. It would have been defensive interference, but not offensive. It sucks that such a competitive game came down to that. On the bright side, Bulls are one step closer to a better draft pick.

Thibs was still livid. He was jittery and could not stay still. He likes to lift weights to relax and is a very strong dude. He was ready to do some serious damage after that blown call for Noah. Too bad they blew that call, I really thought it negated a GREAT play by Noah.

Honestly, as a Bulls fan, watching that I definitely thought it was goaltending. Maybe I don’t fully understand the goaltending rule, but if someone takes the shot, and its on the way down, and you interfere with it, I thought that was goaltending. Bellinelli’s shot hadn’t fully fell short yet, it was still on its way toward the rim. But again, maybe I’m just not interpreting the rule right.

Bad call. He hit that outside of the cylinder. If that is goaltending, then every alleyoop should be.

Who cares if it looks like a shot? Plenty of passes accidently go in, and they aren’t discounted because they were passes. The shot was short, his own teammate tipped it in outside of the cylinder, it should be a bucket.

So why don’t teams teach big men like Dwight Howard to just tip in every shot they see going up? You never see a big man just redirect a shot that is going to be off before it goes in.

The way I see it is Belinelli’s shot was clearly going to hit the rim and anyone who touched that shot before it hit the rim was going to be called for goaltending.

JoeWolf1 I think the reason alleyoops aren’t called goaltending is that the majority of the time the ball is clearly not going to hit the rim.

Supposedly the tip in by Kosta Koufas wasnt reviewed because it was called a bucket on the floor, if it was called a goaltend, initially, it would have been reviewed. After hearing the explanation of the rule, I think it was a good bucket. They said if the ball is in the cylinder or above the cylinder it cannot be touched. However, if the ball is not above or in the cylinder , but is touching the rim and is clearly not going in, it can be touched. Thats what happened on that play. I never knew that, i always thought that if the ball was touching the rim,, a player couldnt touch it.

With Noah’s play, that was a blatant goaltend. Whether the ball is passed or shot, it can not be touched if its above or on the cylinder. It also can not be touched if its coming down and into the cylinder. I noticed someone try to compare the play to an alley oop. It was not even close. Alley oops are usually above and away from the rim. The ones that are heading towards the cylinder are usually waived off.
Im shocked because the refs got this one right. They were two close calls to make, and they followed the rules accordingly and nailed the goals. Tough pill to swallow if you’re the Bulls

The worst part of this whole thing is the rule that you can’t review a shot unless it’s called a goaltend on the floor. Both of those were obvious goaltends but the fact they couldn’t review the Koufus one is a bs rule.

Noah’s was probably a goaltend, but it’s at least semi-debatable.

Koufos’s play, however, was a blatant goaltend, and just inexcusable on the part of the refs for not even reviewing it. The Bulls did get screwed because of that play, but you can’t just say that if you take away that play, the Bulls win, because without that play, the game probably would have been played out a bit differently down the stretch.
