I just always wonder how good the Thunder would have been had they been able to keep Ibaka,Green,Durant,Harden and Westbrook! WOW!!!!

This guy can ball. I always knew he could hoop but I didn’t he could go off at a moments notice like this. I salute his come back from a life threaten heart illness a lot. With him being just 26 and just hitting that age. How good of a future career do you guys think he can have. Obviously he won’t get 40 every night. But he seems like a 20 and 7 guy if put in the right spot.

Unless you are the Lakers or have Cuban as an owner. You would be so far above the cap…

People were saying Green and a couple other guys should be traded for Josh Smith. I asked why and what does Josh do better then Green ? No one responded, and I got negged -8 for that question.

Smith is a better rebounder, passer, postdefender, shotblocker and helpside defender..

I don’t agree with that. Jeff Green doesn’t play starter minutes usually because he is Paul designated backup. He isn’ as good some areas, but is better then Josh in some of the things you listed. Give or take a little. He isn’t the shot blocker and poster defender smith is, but he is definitely been the better shooter and perimeter defender. Josh is more of a pf that can play the sf, Green is more of a sf that can play the pf.

Yeah I understand that they have different roles bit no matter the way you split it Smith is better at these things I mentioned. Its hard to say a guy that averages 3.5 boards in 26 minutes is almost as got at rebounding as a guy that averages 8.6 while playing 36 minutes (their per 36 minutes boards still favors Smith 8.6 to 4.8) there’s really no debating whose the better rebounder at this point in their careers. I see where you are coming from with passing because Jeff Green is a better team player in my opinion. But as far as passing, especially hitting cutters smith is better. Post defending and weakside its clear cut smith. I do agree that Jeff is a better perimiter player and defender and better shooter though

I never said you could keep all of them, because if you could OKC would have kept all of them when they had them all in OKC.

    Just a “what if” thought

Actually, Harden is still in his Rookie Contract, so he is only $5 million or so this year (less than KMart’s $10 million contract). Perkins is $7 million which is about the same as Greens $8 million. And the So actually OKC could have fairly easily kept all those guys at least for this year.

I feel Green could be a good 3rd option on Championship team. Could see him putting up 17ppg-7rpg, obviously a different player to Ray Allen, but sort of be like him when he got to Boston with Pierce and Garnett.

Boston better hold onto him, he’s obviously got game, and they need to start building more for the future. But tonight really showed why this team is such a pretender. I know its the Heat, but how do you waste a guy who’s good nights are usually the high teens putting up 43 points? Not getting him the ball down the stretch, bad, unforced turnovers, it was just a mess. They just don’t have the depth this year. Luckily, they could play the Knicks in the first round, that may be their one ticket out of it.

Boston have held onto him by offering him a multi-year deal. Remember when people were saying he was grossly overpaid this off-season? Those people are idiots; Boston knew what they had in Green and didn’t want to risk losing him by low-balling him. He’s going to be the first option for this team when Pierce retires and he’s poised to hit his prime at the same time as Rondo.

I don’t think he’ll ever be a Durant style first option, but he’s efficient, extremely athletic, and Boston will use a balanced scoring attack so he won’t need to put up 30 every night.

I honestly think if everyone else stays healthy for this Boston team we could beat the Pacers or Knicks in a first round series, I think both of those teams are mentally fragile enough to be upset by a savvy team of vets who are extremely well coached, even without Rondo.

He is a SF to me anyway. He is not strong enough or big enough to play the PF spot at a high level every night, he will get pushed around and banged. It worked tonight because the Heat don’t really use a good true PF.

You guys realize that Jeff Green is a career 45% shooter? So you want your PF to be inconsistent. And since he is a career 5.5 rebounds per 36, you want to get crushed on the boards most nights. This was an awesome night (until the end when he struggled on a few shots). But seriously one night of scoring doesn’t change an entire career of being at best an average scorer and a terrible rebounder.

The guy is averaging 4.8 rebounds per 36 this season. Thing about how terrible that is for a PF.

He’s not a PF. The whole reason the Thunder traded him was because they wanted to clear room for a real PF in Ibaka, because anyone with a brain can see Green is best suited as a SF.

Sure his career numbers aren’t great, but as he’s gotten more comfortable in Boston (the last month or two) he’s been consistently scoring 15 or so points every other game with great efficiency.

He’s a SF defensively and he’s certainly capable of checking perimeter guys, when he played Kobe in the playoffs the Thunder would frequently get Green to guard him and he did a decent job of it (as good as anyone could expect against Kobe back then).

Offensively, he’s a slasher with great finishing ability and a respectable jump-shot, which is something that will improve with time. He’s not a great shot-creator yet, but he has a great knack for picking his spots to shoot and has really benefited from Rondo going out, because it allows him more leeway to decide when he wants to shoot instead of being forced to hoist up the jumpers they usually gave Garnett when he was out.

I see Jeff Green as a more athletic peak Antawn Jamison, maybe not quite the shooter Antawn was/is, but similar play styles, similar builds. I see Green averaging something like 18~22 points, 5~8 Rebounds on 45/35/80% shooting percentages at peak. I think he is a 2nd or 3rd option on a contender.

You do realize Jeff Green is 26, going to be 27 by the time next season starts right?

28 by the time he starts for the Celtics (Pierce’s contract expires and presumably retires)

Meaning he is in his prime and he’s nowhere near being a 22-8 semi All-Star type player. He’s a good 14-6 type of player but I think you’re asking too much for a guy that’s already at or extremely near his peak.

and do yourealise he is a 4 year senior coming into the NBA and has missed an entire season due to heart surgery. On top of that been on a team with Durant who is a pure scorer and then adding Westbrook where he was still able to score 16ppg. Then heading to a team with Pierce, Garnett and Rondo who all kept the ball out of his hands. He is improving it is obvious, age shouldn’t matter. He can be a good 2nd option or great 3rd option for a team and put up 17-18ppg and grab some boards while playing good D.

While Green is very athletic. he’s still not close to being as athletic as Jamison was when he was in his mid 20’s

Are you sure you’re remembering Jamison right? He was never a high flyer or explosive athlete. He was a very smooth, quick jumping one with unorthodox timing but if Green is very athletic and not even close to Jamison as an athlete, then you’re saying that Jamison was an elite athlete similar to Blake Griffin. That’s nonsense.

Green is absolutely a superior athlete to Jamison at the same age when it comes to leaping and straight line speed with them equals in terms of quickness.
