Mad MaxParticipantI have to give the man his due. I undersold him coming out. I thought he would be a solid, decent PG, in the level of Billups or Felton. A good, above avgerage player, never more than the #3 guy on a top tier team at best, but boy am I wrong. He is for real. I think he’s easily a top 10 PG already as a rookie. I also think him being a guy who was in college for 4 years helped him a lot, being ready to play in the NBA day 1. You don’t see a lot of rookies like that anymore because most rookies who were 3/4 year guys aren’t very talented like Lilard, or the talented players aren’t ready yet. No doubt he’s an amazing talent, going to be an all-star for many years.

BruinSteveParticipantIf you thought he was going to be on Chauncey’s level, why would you not think he could lead a championship caliber team? Billups did it in Detroit for several years.
Regardless, I am also a big fan of his game. He plays at his own pace, and has a bit of an old school game. Despite that he can also be explosive, he is very deceptive a la harden. I remember he opened my eyes at the combine, I only saw one of his games in college and I did not expect him to have a 40 inch vertical. I too expect him to be a perennial all star and franchise player for Portland.

Chilbert arenasParticipantChauncy was once in the running for MVP, either 2004-2005 or 2005-2006 season I believe

EntropyParticipantDefinitely not top 10 but he can get there in a couple of years. He’s been on a tear lately, but with few wins.

ilike.panochasParticipantI look at his game and the way he scores, his size, and athletecism, I see Stephon Marbury with intangibles.

festar35ParticipantI like the Marbury comparison. He is a very good scoring guard with an ability to pass and makes the right decisions. I already feel that this Blazers team is his, due to the hype now around him and Aldridge’s unassuming game.

XYRYXParticipantLillard really shows how mature he is as a rookie, the fact that he was 4 years in College did help for shure to play under control for most of the time. I really like his stepback jumper, already his signature move to me. Kyrie has his crossovers and driving layups Harden and Lillard really display of how you can master a stepback to create space for the long shot. Of course they only can do this because they are very strong attacking the basket and you have to give them some space guarding them.
To me Lillard is one of the most promising players in the league right now. Makes no difference to me that he is an old rookie, as much room to grow as anyone. If you prefer a prospect who needs like 3 years to be ready to contribute constantly like maybe Lawson than I’m fine with that. On the other hand you can have someone like Lillard who is more of a wysiwyg and starts on the higher level and has basically the same age as Lawson when they play the same level, but just an example cause Lawson really surprised me after his slow start.
To me Lillard is still an underrated player and his stepback a beauty. Like the Marbury comparision but Stephs handles have really been sick back in the days. Steph was the better player at this stage of their careers. I hope Lillards matches Steph defensively when he hits his prime. If he comes close to Bilups defense them he will be a monster!

HotSnotParticipantLillard clinched it for me at the combine. He put up fantastic numbers across the board… especially the bench. This was after I already knew he was a beautiful shooter, a capable distributor and rebounder and a VERY efficient scorer. You can’t fake efficiency.

RickSlickCHIParticipantI really lik his game. You can tell his mat.urity as a rookie, I pe he can start a era where older players are back to being Scouted heavily

i’m jus so offendedParticipantYou mean Stephon Marbury with a clue
0- Posted on: Fri, 03/15/2013 - 7:24am #755227
ilike.panochasParticipantWell Marbury wasn’t a dumb player on the court, his IQ was actually good, averaging 8APG for his career while getting his. The problem with him like I said was the lack of intangibles (leadership, selfishness, and lack of desire to win).

hoopscopParticipantHe is great and for heavens sake nobody saw it coming, I mean there is something inside that drives Damian and that is missing inside ultra talented kids like Sidney or Darko. That is why you should have able neuropsychologists and psychiatrics on your payroll.

PyronParticipantwhere’s that guy who said that bradley beal would win ROY? 😀
i watched last night’s game against NYC and lilard shot a whole clip of daggers at the end of the game. i never realized how quick he is too.. damn!
at one point of the 4th quarter i was already thinking of getting a lilard jersey lol.
and to comment on the billups point. nothing wrong with lilard becoming finals mvp level like billups was in 04

i’m jus so offendedParticipantLike I said, he didn’t have a clue about playing winning basketball aka not having much of a clue

r377ParticipantI am very happy about Lillard. All the hype comes from these one and done players from big named colleges. Here comes Lillard, a four year career from little known Webber State and he is probably going to win Rookie of the Year.
This is great for basketball in general….

tblazer_NZParticipantlooks as if Damian will pass Rudy Fernandez’s record for most 3pm in a season for a rookie. After todays game I believe he has 149. Rudy got 159 so Damian only needs 11 to beat him with 16 games remaining.
