I think it is fair to say that Ricky Rubio is back and as strong as ever after posting his first career triple double last night. He had a terrific game with 21 points 13 rebounds and 12 assists and I think he’s been playing really great ball lately. He’s come close to the triple double multiple times now and it was only a matter of time before he got one but I think this is something we will be able to look forward to a lot in the future. My wolves needed some good things to happen for them before the end of the season. The injuries have been deflating for this team and this is just a reminder that there are really talented players on this team and they have the potential to compete for the playoffs in upcoming years.

If the T Wolves can get Benny Mac in the draft,he’ll be the perfect backcourt mate for Rubio…..

I’m I the only one that is surprised by how well Rubio rebounds the ball? For a guy that doesn’t sky up there and has a relatively frail body frame, he sure has a knack for getting to the ball off the boards.

He’s not amongst the trees plucking rebounds in traffic. He’s getting the long rebounds off of jump shots. He’s got great size for his position, a 6’8 wingspan and he anticipates extremely well, reading the ball in flight. His ability to anticipate and read game action is his greatest attribute.

The difference is he goes up and grabs the ball with both hands. If you watch the games you see DWilliams and other grabbing it with one hand, and FUMBLING it. He does get the long rebounds but the difference is that he is always active on the floor. I was at that game and he was the only one on the team constantly hustling throughout the minutes he played.

Yeah i love Rubio. Hes playing great. I always tell my friends that if i was starting a power team in the NBA now i would prolly have Rubio, Kobe, Lebron, Blake, and Dwight Howard… I love passing Point guards and he is gonna be good once the T Wolves get a good draft pick and K Love back

BTW, i would say Paul. But i love Rubios flare and hes younger. Thats me tho

Anyone remember when Rubio supposedly wasn’t good enough to play in the NBA. Or that he didn’t want to play for Minnesota? It sure looked like it last night.

It may seem obvious, but pass first point guards like Rubio need someone to whom they can pass the ball. The fact that he’s playing so well with the current less than stellar Minnesota roster indicates how good Rubio could be with a potent offensive lineup.

Maybe next season when all of their injured players return to the lineup, we’ll see a Ricky Rubio who could be an NBA all star?

Rubio with that Celtics line up that Rondo had to pass to his rookie year (Ray, KG and Pierce were as young as they ever were gunna be together). Ricky would be putting up great numbers.

You realize that that was not Rondo’s rookie year right?

He had Nothing to pass to his first season and still played well (in his very limited role).

completely forgot about that. My bad. Point being I’d love to see Rubio on a team with a high level of talent to see how far he can take his passing ability.

It’s more than just his passing ability, it’s his ability to manage the pace, to be a leader and get the spirits of his team-mates up, his love and passion for the game, that intangible quality that gives people more confidence when he’s on the court with them.

He shows tremendous leadership for a player so young, and I think the sky is the limit for him, you just have to hope Minnesota gets the right guys around him (and someone who can shoot!) before he starts looking to walk away.
