    Anthony Davis the last 5 games: 17 ppg 12 rpg 2.2 bpg…

    I realize theyre 1-4 in these games but 3 were losses to playoff teams…

    If it wasn’t for Monty Williams inexplicably sitting Davis virtually the entire second half of the Lakers game (when clearly they needed defense..smh) he would have notched 5 straight double doubles…~13pts 6rebs in 17 mins…

    He’s putting up these numbers while still being vastly underused on offense (still reduced to broken plays, putbacks, and an occasional high post flare for a jump shot)…really anxious to see this kid’s future…

      You’re right but at UK he got the ball early on in the shot clock sometimes to make a post move or pass out… If you watch a Hornets game, coach Monty has him merely sneaking the baseline and he rarely gets a touch early in the shot clock…

      I know what you’re saying but his skill set is far beyond a tyson chandler type role in an offense..

    He’s got a very good future on offense. I think he has 20-10 potential. I really like his jump shot. He has perfect mechanics.

    as of right now, anthony davis is the closest thing to an ibaka clone we have. but for some reason, i think he will eventually be an even better player than ibaka, but they have similar games. he has a bright future. a franchise version of ibaka coming up soon.

      IMO Davis has much more potential than Ibaka. They really aren’t all that similar. Ibaka is a pretty poor rebounder considering all of his talents. Davis is already a much better rebounder, passer, shooter, and ball handler. I think davis really has a chance to develop into a KG type of player when it’s all said and done. I really like his game and potential

        yes like ibaka. davis rebounds better but ibaka isn’t a scrub in that department and he can shoot now and has really expanded his offensive game and is also unselfish about it. much like davis. and it’s not like davis has guard handles. the defensive style of both players are very very similar. davis does have more potential, but i already said davis will end up better.

    Davis might have great shooting mechanics… but he’s not a better shooter than Ibaka right now. He’ll definitely be, but he’s not yet IMO

    a better player than Ibaka in my eyes…..Ibaka is JUST NOW adding other dimensions to his game that Davis already has at 19…..Davis already has dimensions to his game that Ibaka will NEVER have like ball-handling…

      yes but ibaka has not played the game of basketball very long. he was very raw coming out. the amount of improvement ibaka has gained each and every year he has played in the league is amazing. while davis is younger and has more upside, ibaka still has a tremendous amount of upside also. davis will eventually be clearly better imo, but this year- i can’t say davis is better. until i would say i would rather have davis in a playoff series which might be as early as next season, i say right now it is very close but edge ibaka.

    I watched the game last night and in the fourth quarter Davis got the ball in the high post on a couple possessions early in the shot clock. He got one of his assists by passing out of this spot to a baseline cutter. Hopefully there’s more of these to come

    Anthony Davis wasn’t going to guard Dwight Howard and the Lakers went small in the 4th so he wasn’t going to guard Jodie Meeks or Metta and stand in the corner. Also, for what it is worth, there is no difference in the Hornets defense this year with him on the court or off it. There is reputation and then there is reality. The reality is that Davis, like everyone on New Orleans, is young and lacking on the defensive end by NBA standards. So basically, you just want him to have been in the game to pick up a few empty numbers.

    He is 28.2% beyond 9 feet and 33.8% on anything not at the rim. That isn’t underused, it is called limited.

    Davis’s offensive game looks much stronger than Ibaka’s already although Ibaka will obviously get less shots. Considering that Davis has had a disrupted rookie year, he is coming along just fine and like a good rookie prospect often comes on stronger later in his debut season.

    His defensive game is looking potentially elite and his offensive game whilst still very much a work in progress is coming along nicely too IMO.

    As a culture, we’ve been spoiled the past few years by guys like RG III and others who were phenomenal in their rookie year. That kind of performance is outside the norm. Take it from an older guy like me who realizes the majority of young players, and Davis just turned 20, need a little more time before they mature and develop. And this is especially true for the big guys.

    There’s no doubt in my mind that within 2-3 years, Anthony Davis will become a perennial NBA All Star.

    I like how everyone is loving how offense and ignoring he is shooting 33% from any shot thats not a dunk or a layup.

    I think he can be better than Ibaka offensively. But right now he is getting points on putbacks and broken plays because that’s what he is good at. Not shooting.

    Monty is protecting him from being too beat up as his body is still developing. Also Monty is protecting the ping pong balls as the lottery is the Hornets only meaningful game left this season.
    He is an excellent high efficiency player already. Efficient on offense, and disruptive on defense. But he has no jumper, so for now his offense is limited to hustle plays. You can still help your team win a lot of games doing tip ins and finishing lob passes. But you probably can’t ever be a 20 point scorer without some perimeter game (with Shaq being one of the few exceptions to that rule).
