    So I saw Kansas’ game tonight with Iowa State not only went into OT but was very high scoring. So I thought maybe potential number one pick Ben McLemore may have had one of those games where you finally start to see the NBA stardom in him. Nope. He had 7 points on 2-6 shooting. The much maligned Elijah Johnson, however, had 39 points, and maybe a much needed huge performance from him if he wants to even be recognized as far as draft stock is concerned. Either way, 39 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds in a big win is an impressive win as it gets

    If it wasn’t strictly for athleticism, Otto Porter would be ahead of Ben Mclemore in my book.
    Anyhow, I’m giving it some thought.

      He’s way too passive, sometimes he looks like he’s playing “hot potatoe” if the catch and shoot option isn’t there. Dribbling is not his best skill, but he’s not awful and he acts like he’s afraid to try to free himself up on the perimeter. Hopefully he’ll make an adjustment because he’s been like this since the K-State game. I thought that the blowout vs TCU might help turn him around, and he did have a really good half, but he lost concentration and started launching bad shots late, when the game was out of hand.

      Anyways I’m rambling, but he needs to make some mental adjustments down the stretch if he hopes to go top 3.

    Def could see him going 2nd round. Never realized just how tight his dribble was until this season.

    He dropped Marcus Smart last time they played…..& it was a legit drop too.

    I think Eli needs to lay off the weed just a little bit.lol and really lock in during gametime. He has all the talent in the world when he wants to really hoop obviously. It’s no reason why he shouldn’t be killing it on the nightly basis.

    I was waiting for him to breakout but this was just insane…he was throwing them in from everywhere. He is certainly the X factor for Kansas down the stretch.

    This was a result of Tharpe taking over much of the ballhandling and Johnson sliding to the 2. KU ran 4 guards much of the game and Johnson finally started to take the ball to the rack. He was also unconscious last night.

    I think it’s too early to throw him back in your mocks, but its good news for him. This will do wonders for his confidence and if he finishes strong and has a great NCAA tournament he could rise quite a bit. If anything, I think this is the beginning of the end of his PG masquerade. Dude is an off-ball guard, with some handles, now he just needs to prove he can produce over a period of time.

    Exactly joewolf, Johnson looks much better playing off the ball instead of being relief on to be the main ball handler; I didn’t know he was that explosive and could finish very strong in traffic.

    I thought watching Tyshawn Taylor last year would have woken EJ up to the fact he can get to the rim. Last night was the first time I saw him attack rather than just jack 3’s. The rare time he did drive it seemed passive. He stepped up huge last night!

    been watching KU basketball for about 23 years and that was one of the best individual performances i have ever seen from a jayhawk…probably the best by a KU guard. would love it if he could finish the year with that kind of fire. still not too sure about any nba future…but he will play for money somewhere in the world.
